Savvana Constructions Limited is hiring an experienced Project Manager (Engineer) for its construction operations in Papua New Guinea. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multidisciplinary construction projects, with a strong focus on modular construction and precast concrete developments.

Project Manager (Engineer)

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 10 years of construction project management experience.
• At least 5 years of experience managing multidisciplinary construction projects.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• Professional Engineering Registration is preferred.
• Project Management certification is an advantage.
• Training in Contract Administration is desirable.
• HSEQ or Integrated Management System (IMS) training is advantageous.

Responsibilities:

• Project Planning and Execution
  • Develop and implement project execution plans.
  • Prepare project schedules, milestones, and resource plans.
  • Coordinate project activities to ensure timely completion.
  • Monitor project progress against approved schedules.
  • Manage project deliverables from commencement through project handover.
  • Implement recovery plans when project delays are identified.
• Engineering Management
  • Provide technical oversight for all project engineering activities.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings and technical submissions.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Ensure engineering solutions comply with project specifications and applicable standards.
  • Resolve technical issues arising during project execution.
• Contract Administration
  • Administer project contracts in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Review and manage project variations and claims.
  • Ensure contractual deliverables are achieved.
  • Maintain project correspondence and documentation.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and contractual compliance.
• Budget and Cost Control
  • Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and resource utilization.
  • Ensure efficient use of labor, equipment, plant, and materials.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
  • Forecast project costs and resource requirements.
  • Report cost variances and implement corrective actions when necessary.
• Quality Management
  • Ensure compliance with approved quality requirements.
  • Monitor implementation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Ensure defects and non-conformances are addressed promptly.
  • Coordinate inspections with clients and consultants.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ)
  • Ensure compliance with company HSEQ policies and procedures.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture across project sites.
  • Conduct and review project risk assessments.
  • Participate in incident investigations and corrective actions.
  • Ensure environmental obligations are properly managed.
• Stakeholder and Client Management
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, government authorities, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Attend project meetings and provide project updates.
  • Maintain positive stakeholder relationships throughout project delivery.
  • Manage client expectations and project communications.
• Leadership and Team Development
  • Lead and mentor project personnel.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for team members.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and professional development.
  • Support training and succession planning initiatives.
• Reporting and Documentation
  • Prepare weekly and monthly project reports.
  • Maintain project records and documentation.
  • Monitor project KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Ensure document control requirements are maintained.
• Key Performance Indicators
  • Achieve at least 95% adherence to approved project schedules.
  • Complete contractual milestones within agreed timeframes.
  • Maintain project completion dates within approved programs.
  • Control project costs within approved budget allocations.
