Evans Industries Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced PET & HDPE Blow Molding Engineer to lead molding and production operations at its bottle-blowing manufacturing facility in Lagos, Nigeria. This is a senior technical and managerial position responsible for overseeing blow molding operations, machine maintenance, mold services, production planning, quality control, process optimization, and technical team management. The successful candidate will ensure efficient, safe, reliable, and profitable manufacturing operations while maintaining high standards for product quality and production performance.
PET & HDPE Blow Molding Engineer
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree / College Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Plastics Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Male, minimum 25 years old.
- Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in a PET and HDPE bottle-blowing factory.
- At least 5 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory position within a manufacturing plant.
- Extensive practical knowledge of PET and HDPE blow molding processes.
- Exceptional expertise in blow molding machine setup, parameter adjustment, troubleshooting, and process optimization.
- Strong knowledge of molds, tooling, mold servicing, testing, and production applications.
- Proven experience managing preventive maintenance and servicing of blow molding machinery.
- Strong understanding of production planning, manufacturing workflows, capacity analysis, and resource allocation.
- Knowledge of quality control procedures for plastic molds, raw materials, and finished bottle products.
- Ability to analyze production data and implement improvements in machine efficiency, product quality, and manufacturing output.
- Strong technical leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to formulate, implement, and maintain SOPs for molding and production operations.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced bottle-blowing factory environment.
- Open to Filipino expatriate candidates, with prior overseas deployment experience preferred.
- Mature, physically capable, and prepared to handle the demands of a highly active manufacturing plant.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety, environmental compliance, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Good communication and coordination skills when working with factory management, engineers, technicians, operators, and other departments.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all PET and HDPE blow molding activities, including machine setup, tooling, testing, parameter settings, product specifications, and finished-product aesthetics.
- Supervise the complete blow molding production process to ensure consistent output and compliance with production requirements.
- Set, monitor, and optimize blow molding machine parameters to achieve required bottle quality, weight, dimensions, strength, and appearance.
- Troubleshoot blow molding machines and production processes to identify and resolve technical problems.
- Oversee mold design, fabrication, testing, installation, servicing, and performance evaluation.
- Coordinate mold maintenance and ensure molds remain in proper operating condition.
- Manage preventive maintenance programs and regular servicing of all blow molding machinery and related production equipment.
- Monitor machine performance and identify potential equipment failures before they affect production.
- Coordinate with maintenance personnel to ensure timely corrective repairs and minimize production downtime.
- Formulate, document, and implement quality control standards for molds, raw materials, production processes, and finished plastic bottles.
- Establish inspection procedures for bottle dimensions, weight, wall thickness, appearance, leakage, strength, and other product specifications.
- Investigate quality defects and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Schedule manufacturing workflows based on sales forecasts, customer orders, production capacity, and available resources.
- Analyze plant capacity data and optimize production processes, tooling requirements, equipment utilization, and manpower allocation.
- Develop production schedules that maximize machine utilization while minimizing downtime, waste, and production costs.
- Plan assembly sequences, equipment installation steps, production workflows, and manufacturing schedules.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all molding sections.
- Ensure constant availability of required raw materials, packaging materials, molds, tooling, spare parts, and other production inputs.
- Monitor raw material consumption and coordinate with relevant departments to prevent production interruptions.
- Optimize production processes to improve efficiency, product quality, machine utilization, and overall plant performance.
- Supervise and provide technical guidance to molding operators, technicians, maintenance personnel, and other production staff.
- Train and develop technical personnel in machine operation, process control, troubleshooting, safety, and quality requirements.
- Work closely with factory leadership and other departments to ensure smooth, effective, and profitable plant operations.
- Prepare and review production, maintenance, quality, capacity, and technical performance reports.
- Monitor production targets, reject rates, material waste, downtime, and other key manufacturing indicators.
- Enforce strict health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements across all production lines.
- Ensure employees follow machine safety procedures, workplace rules, environmental requirements, and company policies.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, cost reduction, waste reduction, and increased manufacturing efficiency.
- Ensure all molding operations comply with established technical specifications, quality standards, and company procedures.
