Africa Atlantic Rubber Industry Limited is seeking experienced and safety-conscious Refining Assistants to support rubber processing and tire manufacturing operations in Nigeria. The successful candidates will assist in preparing and feeding rubber compounds, operating refining mills and rollers, monitoring processing conditions, inspecting refined rubber sheets, and maintaining production equipment while following strict quality and safety standards.

REFINING ASSISTANT

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a tire or rubber factory production line, preferably with experience in rubber refining or mixing operations.
• Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in Engineering (Industrial), Engineering (Mechanical), or a related field.
• High school or technical/vocational school graduate; mechanical or industrial background is preferred.
• Familiarity with rubber refining, mixing, milling, rolling, and sheet-processing operations.
• Knowledge of operating refining mills, rollers, and related rubber-processing equipment.
• Familiarity with monitoring temperature, pressure, rolling speed, and other refining process parameters.
• Basic knowledge of quality inspection standards for rubber compounds and refined rubber sheets.
• Ability to identify common defects, inconsistencies, and irregularities in processed rubber materials.
• Good understanding of machine operation, production procedures, and workplace safety requirements.
• Good English communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Team-oriented and able to work effectively with supervisors and other production personnel.
• Demonstrated leadership potential and willingness to train and guide Nigerian local employees when assigned to a team-leader position.
• Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts according to the factory schedule.
• Physically capable of working in a manufacturing environment and performing production-related tasks for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistent product quality.
• Strict safety awareness and compliance with factory rules, procedures, and applicable regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing, handling, and feeding raw rubber compounds and other materials into refining equipment.
• Check raw materials and rubber compounds before processing to ensure they are suitable for production.
• Operate refining mills, rollers, and related rubber-processing equipment safely and efficiently.
• Process rubber compounds into sheets with the required thickness, consistency, and quality.
• Monitor the operation of refining mills and rollers throughout the production process.
• Observe and monitor temperature, pressure, rolling speed, and other processing conditions.
• Make or report necessary adjustments to machine settings according to production standards and supervisor instructions.
• Ensure rubber sheets are processed consistently and meet required production specifications.
• Inspect refined rubber sheets for defects, contamination, uneven thickness, irregularities, and other quality issues.
• Conduct basic quality checks to ensure uniformity and compliance with production requirements.
• Identify and separate defective or non-conforming rubber materials for further evaluation.
• Record or report production and quality inspection results as required.
• Handle refined rubber sheets and semi-finished materials carefully to prevent contamination or damage.
• Maintain proper organization and storage of raw materials and processed rubber products.
• Clean refining mills, rollers, tools, and surrounding work areas regularly.
• Assist with basic maintenance and routine cleaning of refining equipment.
• Report equipment malfunctions, abnormal operating conditions, excessive heat, unusual noises, or other machine problems to supervisors or maintenance personnel.
• Follow production schedules, work instructions, process specifications, and quality control procedures.
• Strictly comply with factory safety procedures when operating refining mills, rollers, and other machinery.
• Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow workplace safety regulations.
• Maintain good housekeeping in the refining and production areas to reduce workplace hazards.
• Work rotating 12-hour shifts according to the factory production schedule.
• Coordinate with production workers, supervisors, quality personnel, and maintenance staff to maintain smooth production operations.
• Assist in training and guiding Nigerian local employees on refining procedures and safe machine operation when assigned or promoted to a team-leader role.
• Perform other rubber refining and production-related duties as assigned by management.
