Alduco Engineering Services is seeking an experienced MCC / Motor Specialist to support the Onshore Electrical Turnaround (TAR) 2026 project in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting Motor Control Centers (MCCs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and industrial motors to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical equipment.
The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with MCC systems, motor testing, VFD commissioning, and electrical diagnostics within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Mining, or large industrial facilities.
MCC / MOTOR SPECIALIST
Qualifications:
- Higher National Diploma (HND), NVQ Level 4, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I), Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
- Dual Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) background is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience with MCC systems and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Mining, or Large Utility facilities.
- Proven hands-on experience commissioning and troubleshooting multiple VFD brands, including ABB, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Danfoss, or equivalent manufacturers.
- Strong knowledge of motor protection systems, MCC operations, and electrical testing procedures.
- Experience using motor testing equipment such as insulation resistance testers, surge testers, winding resistance testers, and motor circuit analyzers.
- Thorough understanding of industrial electrical safety practices, including Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities with the capacity to mentor junior technicians.
- Willing to work in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea for the duration of the Onshore Electrical Turnaround (TAR) 2026 project.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect, test, and commission Motor Control Center (MCC) starters and associated electrical equipment.
- Verify, configure, and commission Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), including:
- ABB ACS Drives
- Allen-Bradley PowerFlex Drives
- Siemens SINAMICS Drives
- Danfoss VLT Drives
- Perform comprehensive motor electrical health testing, including:
- Insulation Resistance (IR)
- Polarization Index (PI)
- Surge Testing
- Winding Resistance Testing
- Motor Circuit Analysis (MCA)
- Verify and configure motor protection settings, including thermal overload protection, locked-rotor protection, undercurrent protection, and ground-fault protection.
- Conduct motor functional testing, including solo run, no-load run, and loaded run tests.
- Coordinate with Operations and Maintenance teams regarding motor isolation, mechanical disconnection, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) activities.
- Complete Test Quality Forms (TQFs), MCC compartment records, commissioning reports, and testing documentation.
- Troubleshoot motor, MCC, and VFD faults, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Low Voltage (LV) Journeyman Electricians and junior electrical personnel.
- Submit daily progress reports and technical updates to the Lead Electrical Engineer.
- Ensure all testing and commissioning activities comply with project specifications, client standards, and international electrical codes.
- Maintain compliance with company Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies throughout all work activities.
- Support project close-out by ensuring complete and accurate testing records and turnover documentation.
