Contracts Engineer
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience as a Contracts Engineer, either local or abroad.
- Age limit: Up to 56 years old.
- Strong experience in construction contract administration and management.
- Knowledge of construction contracts, contractual terms, project specifications, and scope of work.
- Experience handling variations, change orders, claims, extensions of time, and contractual correspondence.
- Ability to review and interpret contracts, drawings, specifications, and other project documents.
- Strong documentation, record-keeping, and contract administration skills.
- Knowledge of construction project schedules and the contractual implications of delays and changes.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and project teams.
- Strong negotiation, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to identify contractual risks and compliance issues.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple contractual matters simultaneously.
- Good understanding of construction project procedures and commercial requirements.
- Proficient in preparing contractual reports, correspondence, notices, and supporting documentation.
- Reliable, organized, responsible, and capable of working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
Responsibilities:
- Administer and monitor construction contracts from award through completion.
- Review contract agreements, specifications, drawings, scope of work, and related contractual documents.
- Ensure that project activities comply with approved contract terms, conditions, and requirements.
- Monitor contractual obligations, deliverables, milestones, and deadlines.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders on contractual matters.
- Prepare, review, and maintain contract correspondence, notices, records, and other contractual documentation.
- Monitor variations, change orders, additional works, and potential contractual impacts.
- Assist in preparing and evaluating variation orders and claims.
- Review subcontractor contracts and monitor compliance with agreed terms and conditions.
- Track payment applications, supporting documents, invoices, and contractual payment requirements.
- Assist in evaluating extension-of-time claims and other schedule-related contractual matters.
- Identify potential contractual risks, disputes, delays, and non-compliance issues.
- Maintain proper documentation and records to support claims, variations, and dispute resolution.
- Review and respond to contractual correspondence from clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Coordinate with the planning team regarding project schedules, delays, milestones, and contractual deadlines.
- Monitor project progress and assess potential contractual consequences of delays or changes.
- Assist in the preparation of commercial and contractual reports for project management.
- Ensure that required notices and submissions are prepared and issued within contractual time limits.
- Participate in contract meetings, progress meetings, negotiation sessions, and dispute-resolution discussions as required.
- Support the project team in interpreting contractual requirements and resolving contractual issues.
- Maintain an organized contract document control system and ensure records are properly updated.
- Monitor compliance with applicable project procedures, specifications, quality requirements, and safety obligations.
- Assist management in negotiations with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Provide contractual advice and recommendations to project management based on contract provisions and project circumstances.
- Perform other contracts administration, commercial, documentation, and coordination duties assigned by management.
