CATEGORY BUYER

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Certificate in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in purchasing software, inventory management systems, and advanced Excel skills.
  • Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to negotiate favourable terms with suppliers
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyse market trends, sales data, and inventory levels.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in purchasing and maintaining records.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Ethical Standards: Commitment to maintaining integrity and compliance in all purchasing activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Purchase products within assigned categories to meet sales and inventory targets.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, favourable terms, and timely delivery.
  • Analyse market trends, customer preferences, and sales data to identify purchasing opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Category Manager and Procurement Manager to develop and execute category strategies
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure optimal stock availability to meet customer demand.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliability and quality
  • Work closely with the procurement, finance, sales and retail teams to resolve supply chain issues.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on purchasing activities and category performance
