Sous Chef

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience in hotel or catering kitchen operations.
• Candidates must hold a Vocational Diploma or Short Course Certificate in Food and Beverage Preparation/Service Management or related fields.
• Male applicants are preferred for this role.
• Strong cooking skills with knowledge of professional kitchen operations.
• Ability to manage, supervise, and motivate kitchen staff effectively.
• Able to multitask and work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of health, safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to assign tasks fairly and ensure smooth kitchen workflow.
• Attention to detail and commitment to food quality and consistency.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations and food production.
• Supervise kitchen staff and ensure proper execution of assigned duties.
• Ensure food preparation, cooking, and presentation meet quality standards.
• Coordinate kitchen workflow to ensure timely service delivery.
• Monitor kitchen cleanliness, hygiene, and safety compliance at all times.
• Assist in menu planning, recipe execution, and portion control.
• Train and guide junior kitchen staff when necessary.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of ingredients and food supplies.
• Support cost control measures and minimize food waste.
• Step in for the Head Chef when required to ensure continuity of operations.
