Stellar Recruitment (NZ) Limited is seeking qualified and experienced Mechanical Designers for an overseas work opportunity in New Zealand. The successful candidates will be responsible for mechanical system design and drafting, particularly for HVAC and fire protection systems, using Revit and other design tools. Candidates must have actual system design experience, including the ability to perform hydraulic calculations.

MECHANICAL DESIGNER

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical design and drafting.
• Experience with REVIT software is mandatory.
• Strong experience in HVAC mechanical drafting and design and/or fire protection drafting and design.
• Actual mechanical system design experience is required; drafting-only experience is not sufficient.
• Proven ability to develop mechanical systems from design requirements through detailed drawings and documentation.
• Ability to perform hydraulic calculations.
• Strong understanding of HVAC mechanical systems, fire protection systems, piping, ductwork, and related building services.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, engineering, and technical drawings.
• Strong Revit and BIM modeling skills.
• Ability to coordinate mechanical designs with other building services and engineering disciplines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to design accuracy.
• Good understanding of construction methods, technical specifications, and engineering design requirements.
• Good English communication skills are essential.
• Must be willing and able to obtain an IELTS Overall Band Score of 4.0.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Willing to comply with New Zealand workplace requirements, company procedures, and project standards.

Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed mechanical system designs for commercial and building services projects.
• Prepare accurate mechanical drawings, layouts, plans, sections, details, and design documentation using Revit.
• Design and draft HVAC mechanical systems according to project requirements, technical specifications, and applicable standards.
• Design and develop fire protection systems where qualified and required.
• Perform actual mechanical system design and engineering work rather than drafting-only responsibilities.
• Interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and other technical drawings.
• Develop coordinated 2D and 3D mechanical models using Revit.
• Prepare HVAC layouts, ductwork, pipework, equipment arrangements, and related mechanical services drawings.
• Develop fire protection layouts and piping designs according to project specifications where applicable.
• Perform hydraulic calculations for relevant mechanical and fire protection systems.
• Review design calculations, equipment requirements, pipe sizes, flow requirements, and system capacities.
• Coordinate mechanical designs with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
• Identify potential design clashes and coordinate solutions using BIM and 3D modeling tools.
• Review drawings and models for accuracy, completeness, constructability, and compliance with project requirements.
• Update designs and drawings based on engineering changes, site conditions, and project requirements.
• Prepare design documentation, schedules, specifications, calculations, and technical reports as required.
• Ensure mechanical designs comply with applicable engineering standards, project specifications, and safety requirements.
• Assist engineers and project teams with technical design reviews and design development.
• Maintain accurate project files, drawings, models, calculations, and design records.
• Communicate technical information clearly with project teams and clients.
• Perform other mechanical design and drafting duties assigned by management.
