Oven Operator
Qualifications:
- Relevant technical or vocational education in industrial operations, mechanical technology, process operations, or a related field is preferred, subject to the employer’s requirements.
- Previous experience operating industrial ovens, furnaces, kilns, or thermal processing equipment is an advantage.
- Experience in cement manufacturing or another industrial production environment is preferred.
- Basic understanding of temperature controls, heating cycles, operating parameters, and industrial equipment monitoring.
- Ability to follow operating instructions, technical procedures, and production specifications accurately.
- Knowledge of equipment inspection, routine cleaning, and basic operator-level maintenance.
- Ability to recognize abnormal equipment conditions and report faults promptly.
- Understanding of workplace safety, fire prevention, and proper PPE use.
- Ability to maintain accurate operating logs and production records.
- Good attention to detail and awareness of product quality requirements.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, maintenance personnel, and other production team members.
- Responsible, disciplined, and capable of following instructions.
- Physically fit to work in an industrial environment that may involve heat, dust, noise, and prolonged standing.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by the employer.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor industrial ovens or thermal processing equipment according to established operating procedures.
- Monitor operating temperatures, heating cycles, pressure readings, and other relevant process parameters.
- Adjust equipment settings as authorized to maintain the required operating conditions.
- Conduct routine inspections before, during, and after equipment operation.
- Check burners, heating elements, fuel supply systems, temperature controls, sensors, and other related components, as applicable.
- Ensure materials are loaded, processed, and unloaded according to production instructions and safety requirements.
- Monitor the quality and consistency of processed materials and report any irregularities.
- Maintain proper operating temperatures and processing times to meet production specifications.
- Identify abnormal noises, overheating, temperature fluctuations, leaks, alarms, or other signs of equipment malfunction.
- Report equipment breakdowns and coordinate with maintenance personnel to resolve operational issues.
- Perform routine cleaning and basic operator-level maintenance as authorized.
- Verify that safety guards, alarms, emergency stops, and other protective devices are functioning properly.
- Maintain accurate operating logs, temperature records, production reports, and equipment inspection checklists.
- Follow startup, shutdown, and emergency operating procedures.
- Ensure proper handling and movement of materials around the oven or thermal processing area.
- Coordinate with production supervisors and other operators to maintain smooth workflow.
- Follow approved procedures when handling hot materials, heated surfaces, fuels, and other potential workplace hazards.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including heat-resistant protective gear when required.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization around the operating area.
- Follow workplace safety, fire prevention, and environmental protection procedures.
- Report unsafe conditions, process deviations, and equipment defects promptly to the supervisor.
- Assist with production inspections and other operational checks as assigned.
- Perform other oven operation and production-related duties assigned by management.
