Second-level Equipment Operator
Qualifications:
- Relevant technical or vocational education in heavy equipment operation, mechanical technology, or a related field is preferred, subject to the employer’s requirements.
- Previous experience operating industrial equipment or heavy machinery is preferred.
- Experience in cement manufacturing, quarrying, construction, mining, or material-handling operations is an advantage.
- Ability to operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently within authorized work areas.
- Familiarity with equipment controls, operating limits, basic functions, and safety features.
- Knowledge of routine pre-operation inspections and basic operator-level maintenance.
- Ability to identify abnormal equipment conditions and report faults promptly.
- Understanding of workplace safety procedures, site traffic rules, and safe material-handling practices.
- Ability to follow operating instructions, hand signals, and directions from supervisors.
- Good concentration, coordination, spatial awareness, and judgment when operating machinery.
- Ability to work effectively with other operators, maintenance personnel, and production teams.
- Responsible, reliable, and committed to safe and efficient equipment operation.
- Physically fit to work in an industrial environment that may involve heat, dust, noise, and changing ground conditions.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, or holidays as required by the employer.
- Must possess any equipment operator certification, driving license, or authorization required for the assigned machinery.
Responsibilities:
- Operate assigned heavy equipment and industrial machinery according to approved operating procedures and supervisor instructions.
- Assist with loading, unloading, transporting, and positioning raw materials, aggregates, and other designated loads.
- Support material-handling activities in designated work areas, stockpiles, and industrial operating zones.
- Operate equipment appropriate to assigned duties and the operator’s training and authorization.
- Follow site plans, work instructions, hand signals, and directions from supervisors or authorized spotters.
- Conduct pre-operation and post-operation inspections to verify that equipment is safe and ready for use.
- Check essential equipment components, including fluid levels, tires or tracks, brakes, lights, controls, and safety devices, as applicable.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify unusual noise, vibration, overheating, leaks, warning indicators, or other abnormal conditions.
- Report equipment defects, breakdowns, and maintenance requirements promptly to the supervisor.
- Perform routine cleaning and basic operator-level maintenance in accordance with company procedures.
- Follow approved equipment startup, shutdown, parking, and operating procedures.
- Maintain awareness of nearby workers, vehicles, structures, overhead power lines, and other site hazards.
- Observe safe operating distances near excavation edges, stockpiles, slopes, and restricted areas.
- Follow site traffic management rules and designated equipment travel routes.
- Ensure loads are handled within equipment capacity and manufacturer operating limits.
- Assist with maintaining efficient material flow and minimizing operational delays.
- Coordinate with other equipment operators, truck drivers, ground personnel, and production teams.
- Maintain equipment inspection checklists, operating-hour records, and daily activity reports as required.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with workplace health and safety requirements.
- Stop equipment operation and report unsafe conditions whenever personnel, equipment, or site operations may be at risk.
- Maintain a clean and organized operating area and help prevent damage to plant facilities and equipment.
- Support preventive maintenance activities and cooperate with maintenance personnel when equipment servicing is required.
- Follow environmental and housekeeping procedures to minimize dust, spills, and other workplace hazards.
- Perform other equipment operation and material-handling duties assigned by management.
