Home Connect is seeking a qualified and experienced Telecommunication Engineer to support fiber optic network planning, design, installation, troubleshooting, and site implementation in Brunei Darussalam. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing telecommunication network routes, preparing technical drawings and layouts, installing Fiber Access Terminal (FAT) equipment, preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQ), and coordinating field activities to ensure telecommunications projects meet technical and quality requirements.

TELECOMMUNICATION ENGINEER

Qualifications:

• 21–42 years old.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in telecommunications, fiber optics, civil works, or a related field.
• Practical knowledge of fiber optic telecommunications networks and infrastructure.
• Experience with FAT (Fiber Access Terminal) installation and related equipment such as FCR, FCM, and FCW.
• Ability to troubleshoot network and connection issues at project sites.
• Knowledge of telecommunication network planning, routing, and infrastructure design.
• Ability to prepare fiber optic route drawings, network layouts, sketches, and technical designs.
• Proficiency or working knowledge in AutoCAD/CAD and Canva for preparing and updating drawings and design documents.
• Ability to prepare and review BOQ (Bills of Quantities) and determine required project materials.
• Good understanding of site conditions, installation requirements, and telecommunications construction activities.
• Strong technical, analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Good communication and coordination skills when working with technical teams, contractors, and project personnel.
• Willing to travel to different work locations as required.
• Physically fit and capable of performing site-based telecommunications engineering duties.
• Responsible, organized, and able to work independently or as part of a technical team.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and design telecommunication and fiber optic network routes based on project requirements and actual site conditions.
• Conduct site assessments and gather information required for network planning and installation.
• Troubleshoot network, fiber optic, and connection issues at project sites.
• Identify technical problems and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
• Install and configure FAT (Fiber Access Terminal) equipment and related components.
• Work with FAT equipment including FCR, FCM, and FCW.
• Prepare sketches and technical designs for telecommunication cabinets and FAT locations.
• Determine suitable locations for telecommunication cabinets, FATs, and related network infrastructure.
• Prepare fiber optic route drawings and detailed network layouts.
• Prepare, update, and maintain Canva, AutoCAD, and CAD drawings as required for project documentation.
• Review technical drawings and ensure that designs accurately reflect project requirements and site conditions.
• Prepare and review BOQ (Bills of Quantities) for telecommunications and fiber optic projects.
• Determine required materials, equipment, and components based on approved designs and project specifications.
• Coordinate with technicians, contractors, project coordinators, and other personnel during site implementation.
• Provide technical guidance and support during fiber optic and telecommunications installation activities.
• Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with approved designs, technical specifications, and quality standards.
• Update drawings and network designs when actual site conditions require changes.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, drawings, material lists, and project records.
• Monitor site progress and report technical issues or design changes to management.
• Ensure work is performed in accordance with company procedures and workplace safety requirements.
• Travel to different project and work locations as required.
• Perform other engineering, network design, and telecommunications duties assigned by management.
