CAKE DECORATOR

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience is required.
  • Candidates must be a Bachelor’s / College Degree holder in Food and Beverage Preparation/Service Management or a similar field.
  • Female applicants are preferred for this role.
  • Relevant professional experience as a Cake Decorator or Pastry Decorator is required.
  • Knowledgeable in different cake designs, decorating techniques, finishing methods, and presentation styles.
  • Skilled in piping, frosting, icing, fondant, ganache, and other cake decorating techniques.
  • Ability to create neat, detailed, attractive, and consistent cake decorations.
  • Creative and able to follow both standard designs and customer-specific requirements.
  • Good understanding of proper food handling, hygiene, sanitation, and food safety procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail, precision, and presentation.
  • Ability to work efficiently under time pressure and meet customer order deadlines.
  • Good organizational and teamwork skills.
  • Able to safely use cake decorating tools, equipment, and kitchen utensils.

Responsibilities:

  • Decorate cakes, cupcakes, pastries, and other baked products according to approved designs and customer requirements.
  • Prepare and apply frosting, icing, fondant, ganache, buttercream, and other decorative elements.
  • Create detailed cake designs using piping techniques, edible decorations, molds, cutters, and other decorating tools.
  • Pipe borders, flowers, lettering, patterns, figures, and other decorative details with precision.
  • Apply fondant and other decorative coverings smoothly and professionally.
  • Prepare and use different colors, textures, and decorative finishes according to the required design.
  • Assemble and finish multi-layered cakes and other decorated pastry products.
  • Customize cake decorations based on customer specifications, themes, occasions, and approved designs.
  • Ensure cakes and pastries have a clean, attractive, balanced, and professional appearance.
  • Check the quality, consistency, color, texture, and finish of decorative materials before application.
  • Handle delicate cake decorations and edible ornaments carefully to prevent damage.
  • Assist with the preparation of decorative ingredients, fillings, toppings, and other pastry components as needed.
  • Follow recipes, production instructions, design specifications, and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate portioning and consistency when preparing frosting, icing, and other decorating materials.
  • Inspect completed cakes and pastries to ensure they meet presentation and customer requirements.
  • Make necessary adjustments or corrections to cake decorations and finishing details.
  • Properly clean and sanitize decorating tools, equipment, tables, and workstations.
  • Follow proper food handling, hygiene, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
  • Store ingredients and finished products properly to maintain freshness, quality, and food safety.
  • Coordinate with pastry staff, kitchen personnel, and supervisors to complete orders on schedule.
  • Minimize food and material waste through proper preparation, handling, and storage.
  • Perform other cake decorating and pastry-related duties assigned by management.
