Just Automotive Recruitment is seeking a skilled and technically capable Light Vehicle Mechanic to join an automotive service team in Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, inspecting, servicing, and repairing light vehicles, with particular emphasis on modern vehicle electrical and electronic systems, CANBUS technology, and emissions systems. The role requires strong diagnostic skills and the ability to use automotive scan tools and electrical testing equipment effectively.

Light Vehicle Mechanic

Qualifications:

• Strong diagnostic skills using automotive scan tools and a multimeter.
• Good understanding of CANBUS systems and vehicle communication networks.
• Experience with modern emissions systems and emissions-related vehicle technology.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong knowledge of light vehicle mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
• Ability to diagnose faults accurately using electronic diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to interpret diagnostic trouble codes, test results, wiring information, and vehicle system data.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to perform hands-on vehicle inspection, servicing, maintenance, and repair.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to follow technical instructions, manufacturer specifications, and workplace safety procedures.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities:

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults in light vehicles using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
• Use automotive scan tools and multimeters to identify and troubleshoot vehicle faults.
• Conduct systematic diagnostic tests and interpret fault codes and vehicle system data.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot CANBUS (Controller Area Network) systems and related communication faults.
• Inspect vehicle electrical wiring, sensors, modules, connectors, and other electronic components.
• Service, inspect, and repair modern vehicle systems according to manufacturer specifications.
• Diagnose and maintain modern emissions control systems and related components.
• Identify faults affecting vehicle emissions, engine performance, fuel systems, and exhaust systems.
• Perform routine vehicle servicing and preventive maintenance.
• Inspect engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, cooling, and other vehicle systems.
• Carry out repairs and replacement of defective or worn components as required.
• Conduct post-repair testing to verify that vehicles are operating safely and correctly.
• Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, diagnostic findings, repairs, and servicing performed.
• Follow manufacturer repair procedures, technical specifications, workshop standards, and safety requirements.
• Properly use, maintain, and store diagnostic tools, multimeters, workshop equipment, and hand tools.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment.
• Identify additional repair requirements and communicate findings to supervisors or service personnel.
• Perform road tests or functional tests when required and authorized.
• Ensure all repair and maintenance work meets required quality and safety standards.
• Perform other light vehicle mechanical and diagnostic duties assigned by management.
