Job Location: Fiji
Interlink Shipping Line Pte. Ltd. is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to service, maintain, diagnose, and repair heavy vehicles and buses. The successful candidate should have strong hands-on experience with Isuzu 6HK1 and Hino J08C diesel engines, as well as heavy vehicle drivetrain, transmission, braking, suspension, cooling, and other mechanical systems.
DIESEL MECHANIC
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Heavy Vehicle / Diesel Mechanic.
- Strong hands-on experience working with Isuzu 6HK1 and Hino J08C diesel engines.
- Strong knowledge of heavy vehicle engines, gearboxes, differentials, clutches, drive shafts, axles, and transmissions.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs independently.
- Experience servicing and maintaining heavy vehicles and buses.
- Good knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures and vehicle inspection requirements.
- Ability to troubleshoot engine, braking, suspension, cooling, and other mechanical systems.
- Capable of responding to vehicle breakdowns and performing emergency repairs when required.
- Ability to inspect vehicles and determine whether they are safe and roadworthy for operation.
- Relevant mechanical qualification or equivalent practical experience is preferred.
- Good practical knowledge of diesel engine maintenance and heavy vehicle repair procedures.
- Ability to identify required spare parts and communicate major mechanical issues to management.
- Strong attention to detail, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and minimize vehicle downtime.
- Good understanding of workshop safety, equipment handling, and manufacturer maintenance standards.
- Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently as well as part of a maintenance team.
Responsibilities:
- Service, maintain, diagnose, and repair heavy vehicles and buses.
- Perform inspections and preventive maintenance to keep fleet vehicles safe, reliable, and operational.
- Diagnose and repair faults involving diesel engines, braking systems, suspension, cooling systems, and other mechanical components.
- Carry out servicing and repairs on Isuzu 6HK1 and Hino J08C diesel engines.
- Repair and maintain gearboxes, differentials, clutches, drive shafts, axles, and transmissions.
- Inspect engine performance and identify mechanical faults using appropriate diagnostic methods and equipment.
- Conduct regular preventive maintenance according to manufacturer recommendations and company schedules.
- Inspect vehicle components for wear, damage, leaks, and other conditions that may affect safety or performance.
- Respond to vehicle breakdowns and perform emergency repairs when required.
- Inspect and test vehicles to ensure they are safe and roadworthy before returning them to service.
- Replace defective, worn, or damaged mechanical components and parts.
- Carry out adjustments, repairs, lubrication, and other maintenance procedures as required.
- Identify required spare parts, tools, and materials for scheduled and corrective repairs.
- Report major mechanical defects, recurring faults, and repair requirements to management.
- Maintain accurate records of servicing, inspections, repairs, parts replaced, and vehicle faults.
- Work efficiently to minimize vehicle downtime and help keep the fleet operational.
- Follow company maintenance procedures and applicable manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop and properly care for tools and equipment.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures when performing mechanical repairs and handling equipment.
- Work closely with drivers, supervisors, and other workshop personnel to resolve vehicle-related issues.
- Perform other mechanical maintenance and repair duties as assigned by management.
