Job Talent is seeking an experienced Heavy Trailer Truck Welder / Metal Fabricator to fabricate, assemble, weld, and finish heavy-duty metal structures for trailers, truck bodies, tippers/dump bodies, steel frameworks, bridges, and other large structural steel projects. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on fabrication skills, excellent MIG/MAG and/or ARC welding abilities, and the technical knowledge required to produce accurate, durable, and high-quality metal structures.
Heavy Trailer Truck Welder/Metal Fabricator
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in trailers, tippers/dump bodies, truck bodies, steel frameworks, bridges, large structural steel projects, or similar heavy metal construction.
- Vocational or technical course in Welding, Mechanical, Metal Fabrication, Heavy Equipment Servicing, or a related field.
- Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Ability to independently fabricate and assemble complete metal structures.
- Strong hands-on skills in welding, grinding, cutting, bending, drilling, and punching.
- Excellent MIG/MAG and/or ARC welding skills.
- Good understanding of steel behavior during welding, including the effects of heat, welding distortion, shrinkage, and deformation.
- Ability to achieve proper fit-up, alignment, dimensional accuracy, and weld quality.
- Knowledge of preparation and finishing requirements for galvanization, painting, and protective coatings.
- Strong technical and practical fabrication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong quality awareness.
- Ability to identify welding and fabrication defects and carry out necessary corrections.
- Strong understanding of workshop safety and proper handling of welding and fabrication equipment.
- Safety-conscious and committed to following workplace procedures and PPE requirements.
- Physically fit and capable of handling demanding heavy-metal fabrication work.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet production deadlines.
- Good teamwork, communication, and coordination skills.
- Good English communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Fabricate and assemble heavy-duty metal structures for trailers, tippers/dump bodies, truck bodies, steel frameworks, bridges, and similar structural projects.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, fabrication plans, dimensions, and welding symbols.
- Independently carry out fabrication and assembly of complete metal structures according to project specifications.
- Measure, mark, cut, bend, drill, punch, and prepare steel and other metal materials for fabrication.
- Perform MIG/MAG and/or ARC welding on heavy steel structures and components.
- Prepare welding joints and ensure proper fit-up before welding.
- Position, clamp, tack weld, and align components accurately before final welding.
- Ensure correct dimensions, alignment, squareness, and positioning throughout the fabrication process.
- Use grinders, cutting equipment, drills, bending equipment, punching tools, and other metal fabrication machinery safely.
- Inspect completed welds for quality, strength, appearance, and conformity with project requirements.
- Control welding heat and sequence to minimize distortion, shrinkage, warping, and deformation.
- Apply appropriate fabrication and welding techniques based on steel thickness, structure, and project requirements.
- Carry out grinding, cleaning, dressing, and finishing of welded surfaces.
- Prepare fabricated structures for galvanization, painting, coating, and other finishing processes.
- Check finished structures for dimensional accuracy, proper fit, weld integrity, and overall workmanship.
- Identify and correct welding defects, fabrication errors, misalignment, and other quality issues.
- Handle heavy steel materials and fabricated components using appropriate lifting and handling methods.
- Maintain welding machines, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment in good working condition.
- Follow approved welding procedures, technical specifications, quality standards, and workshop procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe fabrication area.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and safe welding practices.
- Coordinate with supervisors, welders, fabricators, and other production personnel to complete projects efficiently and on schedule.
