Automotive Mechanic
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of working experience is required.
- Candidates must be a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in Engineering (Mechanical) or similar fields.
- Proven experience as an Automotive Mechanic or in a similar vehicle maintenance and repair position.
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical automotive faults.
- Practical knowledge of engine, transmission, electrical, braking, steering, suspension, and cooling systems.
- Experience performing routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacement, tire rotation, and fluid checks.
- Ability to use computerized diagnostic equipment and manual testing methods for vehicle troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of preventive maintenance and vehicle inspection procedures.
- Ability to identify defective components and perform appropriate repairs or replacements.
- Good technical, mechanical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to follow technical instructions, repair procedures, and safety standards.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a professional workshop team.
- Physically capable of performing automotive repair and maintenance duties.
- Male applicants are preferred for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults in automotive vehicles.
- Inspect vehicles to identify mechanical, electrical, and operational problems.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to keep vehicles in safe and reliable working condition.
- Change engine oil and replace oil, air, fuel, and other applicable filters.
- Rotate tires and inspect tire condition, pressure, tread, and wear.
- Check and maintain engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, transmission fluid, and other fluid levels.
- Use computerized diagnostic equipment to identify engine, transmission, electrical, and brake problems.
- Perform manual diagnostic tests and inspections when required.
- Troubleshoot engine performance, starting, charging, and electrical system faults.
- Inspect and repair braking systems, including brake components and related assemblies.
- Diagnose transmission and drivetrain problems and carry out appropriate repairs.
- Inspect suspension, steering, cooling, and other vehicle mechanical systems.
- Replace worn, damaged, or defective mechanical and electrical components.
- Conduct functional tests after repairs to ensure vehicles are operating properly.
- Follow manufacturer specifications, repair procedures, and workshop standards.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, parts replaced, and maintenance performed.
- Use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and workshop equipment safely and correctly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow company safety procedures and proper handling practices for tools, equipment, fluids, and automotive components.
- Coordinate with supervisors and other workshop personnel regarding vehicle conditions and repair requirements.
