UPS TECHNICIAN

Qualifications:

• 3–5 years of hands-on UPS experience is preferred.
• Proven practical experience in UPS installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, or commissioning.
• Experience with Schneider Electric/APC, Eaton, Vertiv/Liebert, and other major UPS brands is an advantage.
• Good understanding of UPS systems, battery systems, bypass arrangements, charging systems, and associated electrical components.
• Ability to diagnose UPS alarms, electrical faults, battery problems, and system failures.
• Ability to use electrical testing and diagnostic equipment safely and correctly.
• Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and UPS documentation.
• Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance procedures for critical power systems.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to inspect equipment carefully and identify potential reliability or safety issues.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to accurate technical work.
• Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a technical maintenance team.
• Good communication and reporting skills.
• Willingness to follow electrical safety procedures and manufacturer specifications.
• Reliable, responsible, and safety-conscious approach to technical work.

Responsibilities:

• Install, commission, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair UPS systems and associated equipment.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on UPS units to ensure reliable and uninterrupted power supply.
• Inspect UPS systems, batteries, connections, breakers, bypass systems, and related electrical components.
• Diagnose UPS alarms, faults, failures, and abnormal operating conditions.
• Perform electrical and functional tests to identify the source of UPS system problems.
• Check UPS input, output, bypass, battery, and charging systems for proper operation.
• Inspect and test UPS batteries, battery connections, terminals, and charging performance.
• Replace faulty components, batteries, fuses, breakers, and other UPS-related parts when required.
• Configure and adjust UPS operating parameters according to manufacturer specifications and system requirements.
• Monitor UPS performance and identify potential problems before they result in equipment downtime.
• Perform load testing and other diagnostic procedures when required.
• Assist with UPS installation, system upgrades, replacement, and commissioning activities.
• Work with UPS systems from major manufacturers, including Schneider Electric/APC, Eaton, and Vertiv/Liebert.
• Read and interpret electrical diagrams, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment documentation.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, test results, repairs, and replaced components.
• Prepare service reports and communicate system conditions and recommended corrective actions to supervisors or clients.
• Coordinate with electrical engineers, facility personnel, contractors, and other technicians during maintenance and service activities.
• Follow manufacturer recommendations and approved maintenance procedures.
• Maintain tools, test equipment, spare parts, and work areas in good condition.
• Follow electrical safety procedures, safe isolation practices, and required PPE when working on UPS and electrical systems.
• Respond to emergency UPS faults and breakdowns when required.
• Perform other UPS maintenance and technical duties assigned by management.
