SYJ Investments Limited T/A Plaza Club is seeking an experienced and creative Chef to join its culinary team in Papua New Guinea. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality international cuisine, maintaining food consistency and presentation standards, and ensuring efficient kitchen operations while following strict food safety and hygiene requirements.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience as a Chef or Cook.
• Bachelor’s/College Degree in Food and Beverage Preparation/Service Management, Hospitality/Tourism Management, or a related field.
• Proven ability to prepare a variety of international dishes to a high standard.
• Previous experience in international cuisine, hotel, restaurant, or similar food service environments.
• Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food preparation techniques, and food handling procedures.
• Knowledge of different cooking methods, cuisines, and culinary standards.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality food presentation.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Good teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Willingness to travel between Port Moresby and Popondetta as required.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook a variety of international cuisine according to menu requirements and standard recipes.
• Ensure consistency in taste, quality, portion control, and food presentation.
• Complete food preparation tasks, mise en place, and daily kitchen duties efficiently.
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety standards throughout kitchen operations.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively.
• Monitor food stock levels, manage ingredients properly, and minimize food wastage.
• Assist in menu preparation, recipe execution, and improvement of food quality.
• Ensure proper storage, handling, and preservation of food items.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation at all times.
• Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient service.
• Follow workplace health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
