MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN
Qualifications:
- At least 8 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, marine engineering, shipyard, offshore, or industrial maintenance.
- Proven hands-on experience in Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) activities.
- Strong experience supporting the maintenance and repair of marine diesel engines, pumps, valves, piping systems, compressors, hydraulic systems, steering systems, gearboxes, and turbines.
- Experience with diesel engines manufactured by MTU, Cummins, Volvo Penta, Kohler, MAN, and Caterpillar.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance procedures for marine and industrial mechanical equipment.
- Ability to dismantle, inspect, repair, overhaul, and reassemble mechanical equipment.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, specifications, and maintenance instructions.
- Knowledge of mechanical tools, measuring instruments, workshop equipment, and maintenance practices.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to equipment reliability, quality, and safety.
- Ability to work effectively in marine, shipyard, offshore, and industrial environments.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary technical teams.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on marine and industrial mechanical equipment.
- Carry out Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) activities in accordance with approved procedures and technical specifications.
- Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul marine diesel engines and associated mechanical components.
- Perform maintenance on diesel engines from manufacturers including MTU, Cummins, Volvo Penta, Kohler, MAN, and Caterpillar.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and determine the appropriate repair, adjustment, replacement, or overhaul requirements.
- Maintain and repair pumps, valves, compressors, gearboxes, turbines, and other rotating and mechanical equipment.
- Inspect and maintain marine piping systems, fittings, connections, and associated components.
- Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems and hydraulic equipment.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair marine steering systems and related mechanical components.
- Carry out engine inspections, servicing, adjustment, component replacement, and performance checks.
- Perform alignment, lubrication, tightening, adjustment, and other mechanical maintenance tasks as required.
- Dismantle and reassemble engines, machinery, pumps, gearboxes, and other mechanical equipment during repair and overhaul activities.
- Inspect mechanical components for wear, corrosion, leaks, damage, or abnormal operating conditions.
- Use appropriate mechanical tools, measuring instruments, diagnostic equipment, and workshop equipment.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, technical specifications, and maintenance instructions.
- Conduct functional and operational tests after repairs to verify that equipment is operating correctly.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, overhaul work, testing results, and equipment conditions.
- Identify spare parts, tools, and materials required for maintenance and repair activities and report requirements to the supervisor.
- Report equipment defects, unsafe conditions, recurring mechanical problems, and major repair requirements promptly.
- Follow manufacturer recommendations and approved maintenance schedules for engines and mechanical equipment.
- Coordinate with electrical technicians, electronic technicians, engineers, supervisors, and marine personnel during maintenance activities.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including proper equipment isolation and lockout/tagout requirements.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a safe and organized work area.
- Perform other mechanical maintenance, repair, overhaul, and technical duties assigned by the supervisor.
