CALVING SPECIALIST

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years proven experience in dairy cattle farm operations or breeding management.
  • Must be a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture graduate, major in Animal Science, Animal Husbandry, or related field.
  • Knowledgeable in breeding techniques and basic livestock veterinary care.
  • Competent in artificial insemination, heat detection, gestation monitoring, and calving management.
  • Strong record-keeping and organizational skills.
  • Willing to work on-site in a farm environment and handle large animals.
  • Ability to operate a tractor is an advantage.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
  • Must have a newly renewed passport.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage breeding operations, including artificial insemination and heat detection.
  • Monitor gestation periods and oversee the calving process to ensure safe delivery.
  • Provide immediate care to newborn calves, including cleaning, colostrum feeding, and health monitoring.
  • Conduct daily health checks of livestock, identify signs of illness, administer medication, and treat minor injuries.
  • Maintain accurate records of breeding, calving dates, calf weight, and overall herd health.
  • Ensure proper hygiene, biosecurity, and safe housing conditions for livestock.
  • Assist in general farm operations and handle large animals safely.
  • Operate farm equipment such as tractors (if applicable).

Salary and Benefits:

  • Salary: Starting at €2,833.33 gross per month
  • Working Hours: 39 hours per week
  • Contract: 2 years (renewable)
