Aureol Global Connections is seeking an experienced Farm Operative to work on a beef, dairy, or calf-rearing farm in Ireland. The successful candidate will be responsible for livestock care, calf rearing, grassland and tillage operations, machinery operation, farm maintenance, and ensuring high standards of animal welfare, biosecurity, and farm safety.

FARM OPERATIVE

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience working on a beef, dairy, or calf-rearing farm.
• Strong calf-rearing and livestock management skills.
• Good understanding of cattle nutrition, health, and welfare.
• Experience identifying and treating common livestock health issues.
• Competent tractor and agricultural machinery operator.
• Experience with tillage operations and crop production.
• Ability to work independently and take responsibility for daily tasks.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Full clean driving licence.
• Strong understanding of farm safety and animal welfare practices.

Responsibilities:

• Livestock Management
  • Rear Friesian bull calves from arrival through to slaughter.
  • Feed calves and finishing cattle according to farm requirements.
  • Monitor cattle health, welfare, growth, and overall performance.
  • Identify common livestock health problems and provide appropriate treatment in accordance with veterinary protocols.
  • Administer medicines and maintain accurate treatment and health records.
  • Monitor feed intake, water supply, and overall herd condition.
  • Move, weigh, and handle cattle safely and calmly.
  • Maintain high standards of animal welfare and biosecurity.
  • Bed livestock sheds and maintain clean, hygienic, and well-presented animal housing.
• Grassland and Tillage Operations
  • Carry out grassland management activities, including fertiliser application, reseeding, and grazing management.
  • Perform tillage and crop production activities such as cultivating, drilling, spraying, and harvesting.
  • Assist with seasonal farm activities including silage and slurry operations.
  • Operate tractors, loaders, and modern agricultural machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Carry out routine maintenance and servicing of tractors, loaders, implements, and other farm machinery.
• General Farm Duties
  • Maintain farm buildings, yards, fencing, livestock facilities, and other farm infrastructure.
  • Keep machinery, livestock areas, equipment, and work areas clean and organized.
  • Record livestock, crop, treatment, and farm production information accurately.
  • Follow all applicable health, safety, environmental, animal welfare, and biosecurity procedures.
  • Work effectively as part of a team while being capable of working independently.
  • Organize daily tasks efficiently and take responsibility for assigned farm operations.
