JEWELRY POLISHER AND FINISHER

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience is required.
• At least a High School Graduate.
• Proven experience in luxury watch polishing, jewelry polishing, refinishing, or finishing.
• Experience working with precious metals and luxury watch components.
• Strong ability to preserve the original geometry, edges, proportions, and design characteristics of jewelry and watch components.
• Skilled in sanding, filing, buffing, polishing, and surface finishing using both hand tools and motorized equipment.
• Experience operating buffing wheels, rotary hand tools, and barrel/tumbling machines.
• Knowledge of different abrasive materials, polishing compounds, and finishing techniques.
• Strong visual inspection skills and attention to very fine surface details.
• Ability to identify scratches, pitting, casting marks, uneven surfaces, and other finishing imperfections.
• Ability to work carefully and accurately with small, delicate, and high-value items.
• Good hand-eye coordination and excellent manual skills.
• Relevant watchmaking, polishing, jewelry-making, or technical training is an advantage.
• Strong commitment to quality, precision, cleanliness, and safe work practices.

Responsibilities:

• Polish and finish raw, repaired, and refinished jewelry pieces according to established quality standards.
• Preserve the original geometry, edges, proportions, and design details of jewelry and luxury watch components during polishing and finishing.
• Sand, file, and clean jewelry using appropriate hand tools, emery paper, buff sticks, and other finishing materials.
• Remove rough edges, casting marks, surface imperfections, scratches, and other finishing defects.
• Operate motorized buffing wheels and rotary hand tools safely and accurately.
• Use barrel and tumbling machines for appropriate jewelry and component finishing applications.
• Apply progressively finer abrasive compounds to achieve the required surface quality and finish.
• Perform high-quality polishing to achieve smooth and, when required, mirror-finish surfaces.
• Handle precious metals and luxury watch components carefully to prevent damage or alteration.
• Inspect polished pieces using magnifying loupes or optical instruments.
• Check finished pieces for remaining scratches, pitting, uneven surfaces, casting marks, or other imperfections.
• Identify structural or surface flaws that may require additional repair or finishing work.
• Perform final quality checks before jewelry or watch components are released for customers or store displays.
• Maintain consistent finishing quality across multiple pieces while following specifications and design requirements.
  Select appropriate polishing tools, abrasive materials, compounds, and techniques based on the type of metal and required finish.
• Maintain and properly care for polishing equipment, hand tools, and workstations.
• Follow workplace safety procedures when operating polishing wheels, rotary tools, tumbling machines, and other equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized polishing and finishing work area.
• Minimize material damage and waste through careful handling and precise finishing techniques.
• Coordinate with jewelry makers, watch technicians, repair personnel, and supervisors as required.
• Perform other polishing, refinishing, finishing, and related duties assigned by management.
