Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in Heavy Fabrication.
- Graduate of a Technical or Vocational program related to welding, fabrication, or a similar field.
- Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate in a relevant technical field or similar qualification.
- Proven ability to perform welding using MIG, TIG, FCAW, and SMAW processes.
- Strong experience in FCAW welding and heavy fabrication.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, welding symbols, and WPS.
- Must have an EN/ISO welding certificate.
- Knowledge of welding procedures, consumables, equipment setup, and welding safety practices.
Ability to inspect weld quality and identify common welding defects. - Good communication skills and ability to understand technical instructions.
- Physically fit and capable of performing demanding welding and fabrication work.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work safely in a heavy fabrication and industrial environment.
- Reliable, hardworking, disciplined, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
- Perform welding and heavy fabrication work according to approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Perform Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) on structural and heavy fabricated components.
- Perform welding using MIG, TIG, FCAW, and SMAW processes as required.
- Set up welding machines, power sources, cables, electrodes, wire feeders, shielding gas, and other welding equipment.
- Select appropriate welding processes, consumables, and settings based on material type and welding requirements.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and dimensions.
- Read and follow Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and applicable welding instructions.
- Prepare metal surfaces, joints, edges, and materials before welding.
- Perform proper fit-up, alignment, tack welding, and positioning of components before final welding.
- Control welding parameters such as current, voltage, wire feed speed, travel speed, and heat input as required.
- Inspect welds for cracks, porosity, undercut, incomplete fusion, distortion, and other welding defects.
- Perform visual inspection and correct welding defects or imperfections when necessary.
- Grind, clean, and finish welds according to project and quality requirements.
- Operate grinders, cutting tools, measuring instruments, and other fabrication equipment safely.
- Assist in the fabrication, assembly, and installation of heavy steel structures and components.
- Perform welding in different positions and on various types of heavy fabricated components.
- Maintain welding equipment, tools, consumables, and work areas in good working condition.
- Report defective materials, equipment problems, and welding issues to the supervisor or welding inspector.
- Follow approved welding procedures, quality control requirements, and workplace safety regulations.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and keep the welding area clean and free from hazards.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding helmet, gloves, protective clothing, and safety footwear.
- Participate in toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and quality inspections as required.
- Coordinate with fabricators, fitters, supervisors, inspectors, and other members of the fabrication team.
- Complete welding assignments according to production schedules and required quality standards.
- Perform other welding and heavy fabrication duties assigned by the supervisor.
