UPHOLSTERER

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 2 year(s) of working experience is required.
• Candidates must be at least a high school graduate.
• Male applicants are preferred for this role.
• At least 2 years of relevant upholstery experience, preferably in automotive or custom upholstery.
• Knowledge and hands-on experience using hot knives, nail guns, sewing equipment, and other upholstery tools.
• Skilled in working with leather, vinyl, fabric, and other upholstery materials.
• Good knowledge of upholstery repair, replacement, stitching, stretching, fitting, and finishing techniques.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform quality checks on completed work.
• Good communication skills and ability to understand and meet client requirements.
• Physically capable of lifting, pulling, and manipulating heavy objects.
• Able to stand, kneel, bend, and walk for extended periods, including up to 8 hours per day.

Responsibilities:

• Meet with clients and design agents to discuss upholstery requirements, design preferences, materials, and customization options.
• Repair damaged upholstery or replace complete sections, including vehicle seats, headliners, door panels, and other interior components.
• Install new upholstery coverings, ensuring proper alignment, fitting, stretching, stitching, and finishing.
• Select appropriate upholstery materials such as leather, vinyl, and fabric based on project requirements and client preferences.
• Remove existing upholstery, prepare surfaces, and install new coverings accurately.
• Stretch, secure, and fit fabric or leather coverings to achieve a smooth and professional finish.
• Use upholstery tools and equipment, including hot knives, nail guns, and sewing machines.
• Smooth out wrinkles, imperfections, and uneven areas to achieve a high-quality finished product.
• Conduct quality inspections on completed upholstery work and make necessary adjustments or corrections.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace and ensure tools and materials are readily available.
• Provide clients with professional advice and recommendations regarding upholstery materials, designs, and maintenance.
• Keep updated with current upholstery techniques, materials, and industry trends to improve workmanship and service quality.
