Quality Control Lead

Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Food Technology / Food Science / Meat Science / Veterinary Science / Chemical Engineering / Biotechnology / Food Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a senior quality role in the food industry.
  Experience in meat or poultry processing is an advantage.
• Proven experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining international quality standards.
• Strong background in audits and certifications such as BRCGS, ISO 22000, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
  Lead Auditor certification is an advantage.
• Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Responsibilities:

• Quality Systems & Standards Development:
  • Develop, implement, and regularly review quality system documentation and SOPs.
  • Define and standardize quality assurance standards for raw materials, packaging, and finished products.
  • Ensure all internal processes comply with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the implementation of ISO systems, Food Safety Management Systems, and HSE procedures.
• Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement:
  • Drive organization-wide quality initiatives and ensure consistency across all plants.
  • Anchor Total Quality Management (TQM) processes across production, procurement, supply chain, and administration.
  • Identify and implement technology solutions to enhance quality control systems.
  • Conduct periodic food safety risk assessments and ensure mitigation strategies are in place.
• Audits, Compliance & Certification:
  • Plan and conduct internal and external audits in line with certification requirements.
  • Manage compliance with standards such as BRCGS, ISO 22000, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
  • Oversee audit processes and ensure corrective and preventive action plans are implemented effectively.
  • Lead applications and compliance for quality and food safety certifications.
• Vendor & Supply Chain Quality:
  • Provide technical support to sourcing teams and vendors to establish quality-assured systems.
  • Conduct supplier audits, prepare evaluation reports, and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Drive implementation of internal quality systems across vendor operations.
• Operations Support & Issue Resolution:
  • Collaborate with production teams to resolve quality issues on the shop floor.
  • Report discrepancies, complaints, failures, and adverse events, ensuring timely corrective actions.
  • Maintain and update a centralized quality assurance database and records.
• Team Leadership & Development:
  • Allocate work, supervise team members, and ensure efficient task execution.
  • Monitor team performance and develop technical capabilities.
  • Train and mentor QA technicians and production staff on quality practices and standards.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and quality awareness.
• Sanitation & Food Safety Oversight:
  • Review and validate cleaning procedures, allergen controls, and sanitation records.
  • Participate in inspections with internal teams and external auditors or certification bodies.
