ITB Nigeria Ltd. is seeking highly skilled and physically fit Marine Construction Divers to support underwater construction and engineering projects. The successful candidate will perform specialized diving operations related to marine infrastructure development, inspection, repair, and installation works in various underwater environments such as harbors, rivers, dams, and offshore sites.
Marine Construction Diver
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years relevant working experience in marine construction or commercial diving.
- Must hold a Bachelor’s/College Degree in Marine Engineering, Welding Technology, Metal Fabrication, or related fields.
- Must have certification from a commercial diving school.
- Strong skills in construction trades such as welding, carpentry, rigging, and concrete work.
- Ability to read and interpret basic construction or engineering drawings.
- Excellent physical fitness, stamina, and ability to work in demanding underwater environments.
- Knowledge of safety standards and underwater communication systems.
- Experience in surface-supplied diving preferred; familiarity with shallow air diving is an advantage.
- Willingness to work in offshore, river, harbor, and dam construction environments with varying schedules and conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in underwater construction of marine structures such as piers, jetties, seawalls, and bridge foundations.
- Conduct underwater inspections to assess structural condition, identify damage, wear, or misalignment.
- Install and secure construction materials including concrete forms, steel beams, and pipelines underwater.
- Perform repair and maintenance works such as sealing cracks, reinforcing structures, and replacing damaged components.
- Carry out underwater welding and cutting operations using specialized diving equipment and tools.
- Support engineers in surveying, measuring, and mapping underwater construction sites.
- Assist in rigging and lifting operations by attaching cables and guiding cranes for underwater material placement.
- Work from barges, boats, or temporary platforms under varying and demanding environmental conditions.
- Follow strict safety protocols and underwater communication procedures at all times.
