Microbiology Laboratory Technician

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Laboratory Technology, or related Life Science field.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a microbiology laboratory.
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Media and sample preparation
  • Manual culture techniques
  • ELISA, ELFA, VIDAS, VITEK systems
  • Biochemical analysis, staining, and weighing equipment
• Familiarity with ISO 17025 standards and microbiological testing methods.
• Proficient in MS Office applications.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in laboratory work.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to operate laboratory equipment and perform microbiological analysis independently.

Responsibilities:

• Laboratory Operations:
  • Conduct routine microbiological and laboratory testing within the central laboratory and plant operations.
  • Perform analysis on incoming raw materials, finished products, and environmental samples (air quality, equipment swabs, personnel swabs).
  • Assist microbiologists in daily laboratory activities and plant-level analysis.
  • Develop and implement testing procedures for raw materials, finished goods, and environmental monitoring.
• Equipment & Maintenance:
  • Clean, sterilize, calibrate, and maintain laboratory tools and equipment.
  • Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance of laboratory instruments.
  • Maintain logs and records of laboratory equipment and reagents.
• Quality & Compliance:
  • Follow ISO 17025 standards, BAM-FDA methods, and laboratory safety guidelines.
  • Participate in ISO 17025 audits and support GFSI-related programs.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all laboratory activities and test results.
  • Maintain environmental compliance including waste disposal, segregation, and resource conservation.
• Inventory & Documentation:
  • Monitor laboratory inventory and order supplies as needed.
  • Organize storage, labeling, and stock management of laboratory materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of all lab items, including quantity and location.
  • Prepare and document microbiology reports and analysis results.
