Alduco Engineering Services is looking for a skilled LV Electrical Technician to join the Onshore Electrical Turnaround (TAR) 2026 project in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing testing, inspection, commissioning, and troubleshooting of low-voltage electrical systems, ensuring all work complies with project specifications, client standards, and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) requirements.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in low-voltage switchgear, cable testing, motor protection systems, and electrical commissioning within Oil & Gas, heavy industrial, marine, or power generation environments.
LV ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN
Qualifications:
- City & Guilds (C&G) 2330, 2365, 2382, or an equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- Equivalent qualification in Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) is also accepted.
- Dual Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) trade background is preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in low-voltage testing and commissioning within:
- Oil & Gas
- Heavy Industrial Facilities
- Marine Industry
- Power Generation or similar industrial environments
- Strong knowledge of LV switchgear, electrical distribution systems, motor control centers (MCCs), and motor protection systems.
- Hands-on experience using Megger insulation testers, Hi-Pot test equipment, infrared thermographic cameras, and other electrical testing instruments.
- Familiarity with Test Quality Forms (TQFs), commissioning documentation, and project quality procedures.
- Thorough understanding of Permit-to-Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and electrical safety practices.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork abilities with experience supervising and mentoring junior technicians.
Responsibilities:
- Lead primary and secondary testing of low-voltage (LV) switchgear, including:
- Insulation Resistance (IR) Testing
- Continuity Testing
- 5 kV Megger Testing
- 2 kV DC High-Potential (Hi-Pot) Testing
Circuit Breaker Timing Tests
- Perform LV cable testing, including insulation resistance, polarization index (PI), continuity, and phase rotation verification.
- Assist in LV motor protection testing, including motor insulation resistance (IR), polarization index (PI), and surge testing where applicable.
- Conduct inspections of LV distribution boards, including torque verification, infrared (IR) thermographic scanning, and mechanical interlock inspections.
- Perform walk-down inspections and as-found condition surveys on 480V and 600V low-voltage electrical systems.
- Prepare, review, and sign LV Test Quality Forms (TQFs) and commissioning documentation.
- Verify testing records completed by LV Journeymen before submission.
- Mentor and supervise LV Journeymen during testing, commissioning, and maintenance activities.
- Serve as the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Point Person for assigned LV isolation boundaries, ensuring compliance with the client’s Permit-to-Work (PTW) procedures.
- Submit daily progress reports to the Team Lead Senior Specialist.
- Assist in project close-out by compiling:
- Photo logs
- Infrared (IR) scan reports
- As-tested settings
- Commissioning and turnover documentation
- Troubleshoot LV electrical equipment and recommend corrective actions for identified issues.
- Ensure all work complies with project specifications, international electrical standards, and company HSE policies.
