T-Three Projects is seeking qualified and experienced Combination Welders (GTAW/SMAW) to work in Zambia. The successful candidates will perform high-quality GTAW (TIG) and SMAW (Stick) welding on metal components and piping in multiple positions, including 1G–6G and 6GR. Candidates must be capable of interpreting technical drawings and welding symbols, setting up welding equipment, and maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety

Combination Welder (GTAW/SMAW)

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience as a Combination Welder or similar position.
• Holder of a Vocational Diploma or Short Course Certificate in Engineering, Metal Fabrication, Tool and Die, Welding, or a related field.
• TESDA NC II/NC III in Welding or equivalent qualification is accepted.
• AWS/ASME certifications or other recognized international welding certifications are an advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years of welding experience, with strong multi-position welding skills.
• Proficient in both GTAW (TIG) and SMAW (Stick) welding.
• Demonstrated ability to perform welding in multiple positions, including 6G and 6GR.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
• Knowledge of welding procedures, electrode selection, filler materials, machine settings, and welding parameters.
• Strong understanding of welding safety procedures and proper use of PPE.
• Good hand-eye coordination, precision, and attention to detail.
• Physically fit and capable of performing welding work in demanding industrial environments.
• Reliable, disciplined, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

• Operate GTAW (TIG) and SMAW (Stick) welding equipment to join metal components and piping.
• Perform multi-position welding in 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, 6G, and 6GR positions as required.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, welding symbols, and technical specifications.
• Determine welding requirements, joint configurations, materials, and appropriate welding procedures from technical drawings.
• Set up welding machines, welding leads, regulators, torches, electrodes, and other welding equipment.
• Select appropriate electrodes, filler materials, and welding consumables based on material and welding requirements.
• Adjust welding current, voltage, gas flow, and other machine parameters to achieve proper weld quality.
• Prepare metal surfaces, joints, and edges before welding to ensure proper fit-up and weld penetration.
• Perform tack welding and ensure correct alignment and positioning of components before final welding.
• Conduct GTAW welding with proper control of heat input, arc length, shielding gas, and filler material.
• Perform SMAW welding using appropriate electrodes and techniques for different materials and positions.
• Inspect completed welds for defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, incomplete fusion, and improper penetration.
• Perform grinding, cleaning, and other finishing work as necessary to meet project specifications.
• Carry out welding repairs and corrective work when weld defects or quality issues are identified.
• Maintain welding machines, tools, torches, cables, regulators, and other equipment in safe working condition.
• Follow approved welding procedures, project specifications, and quality control requirements.
• Properly use welding PPE and comply with occupational health and safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe welding work area.
• Coordinate with pipe fitters, mechanical fitters, supervisors, inspectors, and other site personnel.
• Perform other welding, fabrication, repair, and maintenance duties as assigned.
