Lefebvre Engineering FZC is seeking qualified and experienced Welders specializing in Steel and Aluminium to join its fabrication and engineering operations in the United Arab Emirates. The successful candidates will fabricate, assemble, repair, and maintain steel and aluminium structures and equipment using various welding processes, fabrication tools, and precision measuring equipment. Candidates must be experienced in multi-process welding, structural fabrication, blueprint interpretation, and strict compliance with Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and UAE workplace safety requirements.

WELDER (STEEL & ALUMINIUM)

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience as a Welder, Fabricator, or similar position.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant overseas construction or fabrication experience.
• Holder of a Vocational Diploma or Short Course Certificate in Engineering, Metal Fabrication, Tool and Die, Welding, or a related field.
• Male applicants are preferred for this role.
• Proficiency in MIG/GMAW, FCAW, TIG/GTAW, SMAW, and Air Gouging.
• Hands-on experience welding both structural steel and aluminium alloys.
• Ability to weld in all positions, including flat (1G/1F), horizontal (2G/2F), vertical (3G/3F), and overhead (4G/4F).
• Proven ability to perform structural assembly, fit-up, and tack welding before final welding.
• Ability to read, interpret, and work in strict compliance with Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
• Knowledge of WPS/PQR requirements and proper welding procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication sketches, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Experience with steel welding using SMAW/Stick, GMAW/MIG, and FCAW processes.
• Knowledge of E6010 and E7018 electrodes, solid wire, flux-core wire, and appropriate welding consumables.
• Experience with air gouging/carbon arc gouging, preheating of thick steel sections, post-weld grinding, and weld inspection.
• Experience with aluminium TIG/GTAW using AC current and MIG/GMAW using Argon shielding.
• Knowledge of push-pull or spool gun techniques for aluminium welding.
• Strong understanding of aluminium preparation, including pre-cleaning, dedicated stainless-steel wire brushes, filler wire selection, heat control, and prevention of iron contamination.
• AWS, ASME, or equivalent recognized welding certifications are an advantage.
• Knowledge of UAE workplace safety standards and proper use of PPE.
• Strong attention to detail, welding precision, quality awareness, and commitment to safe working practices.
• Physically fit and capable of performing demanding welding and fabrication work.

Responsibilities:

• Fabricate and assemble steel and aluminium structures, equipment, components, and metal products according to project specifications.
• Perform welding using GMAW/MIG, FCAW, GTAW/TIG, and SMAW/Stick processes as required.
• Weld steel and aluminium components in accordance with approved WPS, blueprints, layouts, diagrams, and work orders.
• Perform tack welding and structural assembly before final welding.
• Carry out simple tack welds through complex multi-pass welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
• Set up, operate, and maintain welding machines, torches, regulators, cables, fixtures, guides, and associated tooling.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication sketches, blueprints, WPS, PQR, work instructions, and job orders.
• Determine the required welding operations, materials, tools, equipment, and work sequence from technical documents.
• Lay out and prepare work using fixtures, guides, measuring tools, templates, and other fabrication equipment.
• Perform structural fabrication and assembly work involving different sizes, shapes, thicknesses, and material types.
• Operate grinders, cutting torches, drills, punches, hand tools, air-arc gouging equipment, and other fabrication tools.
• Safely operate or assist with the use of forklifts, hoists, slings, and material-handling equipment when authorized and qualified.
• For steel welding, perform SMAW using appropriate electrodes such as E6010 and E7018, as well as MIG/GMAW and FCAW welding.
• Perform air gouging and carbon arc gouging when required for weld removal, preparation, or repair.
• Apply appropriate preheating procedures for thick steel sections when specified by the applicable welding procedure.
• Perform post-weld grinding, cleaning, visual inspection, and finishing of steel welds.
• For aluminium welding, perform GTAW/TIG using appropriate AC current settings and GMAW/MIG welding with Argon shielding.
• Use appropriate aluminium welding techniques, including push-pull or spool gun operation where required.
• Follow strict aluminium cleanliness procedures by using dedicated stainless-steel wire brushes and preventing iron or other material contamination.
• Select the appropriate aluminium filler wire, including ER4043 or ER5356, according to material and welding requirements.
• Control preheating and heat input during aluminium welding to minimize distortion and warping.
• Perform proper post-weld cleaning of aluminium components while preventing contamination.
• Inspect welds for cracks, porosity, undercut, incomplete fusion, improper penetration, and other defects.
• Repair defective welds and perform corrective welding or grinding as required by quality standards and approved procedures.
• Conduct daily inspections of welding machines and equipment and complete required inspection check sheets.
• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot welding equipment malfunctions in accordance with manufacturer instructions.
• Participate in process improvement programs, team meetings, quality focus groups, and other workplace improvement activities.
• Communicate effectively with welders, fabricators, supervisors, engineers, and clients to ensure work is completed safely, on time, and according to specifications.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company procedures and UAE safety regulations.
• Use appropriate PPE, including welding helmets, goggles, gloves, flame-resistant clothing, and other required protective equipment.
• Perform other welding, fabrication, repair, and maintenance duties as qualified and directed by supervisors.
