SAW OPERATOR
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of working experience is required.
- Candidates must be at least a High School Graduate.
- Male applicants are preferred for this role.
- Proven experience operating band saws, circular saws, cold saws, or other industrial cutting machines.
- Knowledge of proper machine setup, operation, adjustment, and basic maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, cutting lists, measurements, work orders, and specifications.
- Skilled in accurately measuring, marking, cutting, and preparing materials according to required dimensions.
- Knowledge of different metal types, sizes, thicknesses, and cutting requirements is an advantage.
- Ability to inspect cut materials for accuracy, proper dimensions, angles, quality, and visible defects.
- Good understanding of saw blade selection, condition, adjustment, and safe machine operation.
- Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and promptly report machine problems or abnormal conditions to the supervisor.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate and consistent cuts.
- Ability to use measuring and inspection tools correctly.
- Familiarity with proper machine safety procedures, workshop safety practices, and correct use of PPE.
- Physically fit and capable of handling, positioning, and moving metal materials safely.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with fabricators, welders, and other production personnel.
- Reliable, hardworking, disciplined, and safety-conscious.
- Technical/vocational training or TESDA certification is an advantage.
Responsibilities:
- Operate industrial saw-cutting machines to accurately cut metal, steel, aluminum, and other materials according to specified dimensions and production requirements.
- Operate band saws, circular saws, cold saws, and other industrial cutting equipment.
- Set up and adjust saw-cutting machines according to required material sizes, cutting dimensions, angles, and production specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, cutting lists, work orders, and specifications.
- Measure and accurately mark materials before cutting.
- Determine and set the required cutting length, size, angle, and quantity based on production requirements.
- Load, position, align, and securely hold materials in the machine before starting the cutting operation.
- Ensure materials are properly supported and positioned to achieve accurate and consistent cuts.
- Monitor machine operation during cutting and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality.
- Inspect finished cuts for accuracy, proper dimensions, angles, surface condition, and overall quality.
- Use measuring tools such as tape measures, rulers, calipers, squares, and other appropriate instruments to verify dimensions.
- Identify and separate incorrectly cut, damaged, or non-conforming materials.
- Perform basic cleaning, lubrication, inspection, and maintenance of saw-cutting machines.
- Replace or adjust saw blades and other machine components when necessary and within assigned responsibilities.
- Monitor blade condition and cutting performance to maintain efficient and accurate production.
- Identify machine problems, abnormal operation, excessive vibration, cutting defects, or other equipment issues and report them to the supervisor.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and make appropriate machine adjustments when authorized.
- Maintain proper housekeeping around the cutting area and ensure materials and finished components are properly organized.
- Follow machine operating instructions, workplace safety procedures, and applicable production standards.
- Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain safe working practices when operating cutting machinery.
- Handle and move metal materials safely using appropriate lifting and material-handling methods.
- Coordinate with fabricators, welders, and other production personnel to ensure materials are cut and prepared according to project requirements.
- Complete assigned cutting work accurately and within required production schedules.
- Minimize material waste through proper measurement, cutting, layout, and efficient material handling.
- Perform other machine operation, cutting, maintenance, and workshop duties assigned by the supervisor.
