Skyecap is seeking an experienced Junior Underwriter for a remote work opportunity based in the Philippines. The successful candidate will assess SME and business loan applications, analyze financial and credit information, identify potential risks, and make sound underwriting recommendations in accordance with company lending policies and risk guidelines.

Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in underwriting, credit assessment, lending, financial services, or fintech.
- Experience in the Australian financial services or lending market is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of credit assessment and lending principles.
- Experience assessing SME, business, or commercial loan applications is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and financial assessment skills.
- Ability to analyze financial statements, credit reports, bank statements, and other supporting documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing high volumes of applications.
- Good judgment and ability to identify credit risks and potential issues.
- Ability to make clear and well-supported underwriting recommendations.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with internal teams and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant financial or lending software.
- High level of integrity and ability to maintain strict confidentiality of financial information.
- Willing to work remotely from the Philippines for an Australian-based company.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and review SME and business loan applications in accordance with company lending policies, procedures, and risk guidelines.
- Analyze applicants’ financial information, credit profiles, business performance, and supporting documents to determine lending eligibility.
- Evaluate the financial strength, repayment capacity, and overall creditworthiness of loan applicants.
- Review bank statements, financial statements, business documents, credit reports, and other supporting information.
- Identify potential credit risks, inconsistencies, missing information, and other issues that may affect lending decisions.
- Conduct detailed financial and credit analysis to support underwriting recommendations.
- Process a high volume of loan applications accurately and efficiently while maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Make sound underwriting recommendations based on established credit policies and risk parameters.
- Escalate complex, unusual, or high-risk applications to senior underwriters or management when necessary.
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of information submitted by applicants.
- Ensure loan applications meet required documentation and underwriting standards.
- Apply appropriate risk assessment methods when evaluating SME and business borrowers.
- Maintain accurate records of underwriting decisions, supporting documents, and application information.
- Communicate with internal teams and relevant stakeholders regarding application requirements, documentation, and credit concerns.
- Follow company procedures, lending policies, compliance requirements, and responsible lending practices.
- Maintain confidentiality of customer, financial, and business information.
- Monitor application turnaround times and ensure underwriting tasks are completed within required service levels.
- Identify recurring credit issues, trends, or process concerns and communicate them to the appropriate team.
- Support continuous improvement of underwriting processes and risk assessment procedures.
- Perform other credit assessment, underwriting, and lending-related duties assigned by management.
