Alduco Engineering Services is seeking an experienced Senior HV/MV Test Specialist to support the Onshore Electrical Turnaround (TAR) 2026 project in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea. The successful candidate will lead the testing, commissioning, diagnostics, and verification of high-voltage (HV) and medium-voltage (MV) electrical equipment, ensuring all systems meet project specifications, international standards, and client requirements.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience in HV/MV switchgear testing, power transformer diagnostics, cable testing, specialized electrical test equipment, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures within Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Utility, or large industrial facilities.
HV/MV TEST TEST SPECIALIST (SENIOR)
Qualifications:
- City & Guilds 2391, EAL Diploma, Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineering, NVQ Level 4 in Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent national qualification.
- Dual Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) trade background is preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in HV/MV testing and commissioning within:
- Oil & Gas
- Power Generation
- Utility Companies
- Large Industrial Facilities
- Extensive experience testing and commissioning HV/MV switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, and power distribution systems.
- Proven expertise in transformer diagnostics, cable testing, relay coordination, and electrical commissioning procedures.
- Hands-on experience using advanced electrical testing equipment, including Megger, Doble, Omicron, Hipotronics, and equivalent diagnostic systems.
- Strong understanding of HV/MV electrical safety standards, Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Ability to interpret electrical single-line diagrams, protection schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and technical reporting skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring abilities with experience supervising multidisciplinary field teams.
Responsibilities:
- Lead primary and secondary testing of HV/MV switchgear, including:
- Contact Resistance Testing
- Insulation Resistance Testing
- High-Potential (Hi-Pot) Testing
- MV Circuit Breaker Timing Tests
- Trip Function Testing
- Perform comprehensive testing and diagnostics on medium-voltage power transformers, including:
- Transformer Turns Ratio (TTR)
- Winding Resistance Testing
- Insulation Resistance Testing
- Polarization Index (PI)
- Sweep Frequency Response Analysis (SFRA)
- On-Load Tap Changer (OLTC) Testing
- Transformer Oil Dielectric Testing
- Conduct MV cable diagnostics, including:
- Very Low Frequency (VLF) Withstand Testing
- Tan Delta Loss Testing
- Partial Discharge (PD) Surveys on critical MV cables
- Operate and maintain specialized electrical testing equipment, including:
- Megger MIT525
- Doble M4100 / F6150
- Hipotronics Test Sets
- Omicron CPC-100
- IRG-3 or equivalent diagnostic equipment
- Prepare, complete, and maintain Test Quality Forms (TQFs) in accordance with the BNA Quality Plan.
- Coordinate with Operations personnel for:
- Switchgear isolation
- Breaker racking-in and racking-out
- Primary injection testing setup
- Secondary injection testing setup
- Serve as the LOTO Lead for assigned electrical isolation boundaries and ensure full compliance with the Client’s Permit-to-Work (PTW) system.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to LV Senior Technicians and Journeyman Electricians during testing and commissioning activities.
- Submit daily progress reports, technical findings, anomalies, and recommendations to the Lead Electrical Engineer.
- Support project close-out by preparing and reviewing:
- Manufacturer Records of Maintenance (MOM)
- Photo Logs
- As-Tested Settings
- Commissioning Records
- Troubleshoot electrical equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure all testing activities comply with project specifications, international standards, and company Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) requirements.
