Aureol Global Connections is seeking an experienced Design Manager specializing in high-voltage Substation projects to support major UK Transmission network developments. The role involves leading multidisciplinary engineering design delivery for 132kV, 275kV, and 400kV substation new builds and extensions, ensuring compliance with UK regulatory and client standards.

Qualifications:
- Essential Experience
- Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering design packages
- Experience acting as Principal Designer Representative under CDM 2015 Regulations
- Strong background in delivering high-voltage substation projects
- Desirable Experience
- Experience working with UK Transmission System Operators such as SSEN, National Grid, ScottishPower Energy Networks, or similar
- Membership of a UK engineering institution (e.g., IET or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of engineering consultancy contracts and design management processes
- Ideal Candidate Profile
- Strong leadership and coordination skills across engineering disciplines
- Highly experienced in UK transmission substation standards and project delivery
- Able to manage complex stakeholder, technical, and commercial requirements
Responsibilities:
- Lead engineering design delivery for major transmission substation projects (132kV / 275kV / 400kV new build and extension works)
- Manage design activities during tender, Early Contractor Engagement, FEED, and detailed design stages
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams including HV Plant, Protection & Control, Control Systems, and Civils from internal teams, external designers, and OEMs
- Act as Principal Design Representative, ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 Regulations and proper management of design information
- Review design packages for technical compliance, quality, and completeness
- Monitor engineering programme progress and support procurement coordination for design-related services and equipment
- Liaise with Temporary Works Coordinators and designers to ensure constructability and integration of permanent works
- Ensure compliance with client specifications, UK standards, and regulatory requirements
- Influence and manage design consultant contracts, including scope, fees, schedules, and liabilities
- Review consultant payment applications and coordinate with commercial teams for processing
- Support continuous improvement of design management processes within the business unit
