COMMERCIAL FLOORING INSTALLER

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a Vocational Diploma or Short Course Certificate in a relevant field or similar qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in commercial flooring installation, vinyl flooring, or related construction work.
  • Extensive experience installing vinyl flooring, preferably in hospitals, healthcare facilities, laboratories, or other commercial establishments.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in installing sheet vinyl, vinyl tiles, luxury vinyl tiles (LVT), and homogeneous or heterogeneous vinyl flooring.
  • Skilled in measuring, cutting, fitting, joining, and finishing resilient flooring materials.
  • Knowledge of subfloor preparation, floor leveling, surface repairs, and proper application of adhesives.
  • Able to read and follow shop drawings, project specifications, manufacturer installation instructions, and quality standards.
  • Knowledge of construction site safety procedures, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe operation of cutting tools and equipment.
  • Familiarity with the proper handling, storage, and application of flooring adhesives, chemicals, and related materials.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Able to coordinate and work professionally with site supervisors, contractors, hospital representatives, and other trades.
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
  • Willing to work in active construction or renovation sites, including healthcare environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Install sheet vinyl, vinyl tiles, luxury vinyl tiles (LVT), and other specified resilient flooring materials in hospitals and commercial facilities.
  • Inspect and prepare subfloors by cleaning, leveling, repairing, and ensuring surfaces are suitable for flooring installation.
  • Measure work areas and accurately cut and fit flooring materials according to project dimensions and layout requirements.
  • Apply appropriate adhesives and install flooring materials in accordance with manufacturer instructions and project specifications.
  • Ensure proper alignment, seams, joints, edges, and finishing for a smooth and durable flooring surface.
  • Conduct repairs, replacements, and remedial works on damaged, worn, or defective vinyl flooring.
  • Perform floor preparation, patching, leveling, and other related tasks required for quality installation.
  • Inspect completed flooring installations to ensure compliance with project quality standards and specifications.
  • Coordinate with site supervisors, contractors, hospital representatives, and other trades to minimize disruption to hospital operations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the work area, particularly in sensitive healthcare environments.
  • Follow infection prevention requirements, construction safety procedures, and site-specific rules when working in hospitals and healthcare facilities.
  • Use cutting tools, installation equipment, adhesives, and chemicals safely and responsibly.
  • Report installation issues, material defects, and site concerns to the supervisor.
  • Perform other related flooring installation and maintenance duties as assigned.
