JMA Decorators Ltd is seeking skilled Building Painters for deployment to New Zealand. The successful candidates will be responsible for preparing surfaces, applying paints and decorative finishes, and ensuring high-quality workmanship in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.

Building Painter

Qualifications:

• Minimum of three (3) years of working experience as a Building Painter or in a related field.
• Candidates must be at least a high school graduate.
• Knowledge and experience in surface preparation, paint application, and finishing techniques.
• Skilled in the use of brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other painting equipment.
• Experience in applying paint, varnish, wallpaper, and decorative finishes.
• Ability to erect and work safely on scaffolding and ladders.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Physically fit and capable of performing work at heights and in various working conditions.
• Good English communication skills are required.
• IELTS or PTE certificate is required for this position.

Responsibilities:

• Apply paint, varnish, wallpaper, and other decorative finishes to protect, maintain, and enhance the appearance of buildings and structures.
• Prepare surfaces for painting by scraping, sanding, cleaning, and removing old paint and damaged coatings.
• Fill cracks, holes, and surface imperfections using appropriate fillers and compounds.
• Smooth and prepare surfaces to ensure proper paint adhesion and high-quality finishes.
• Mix, thin, and match paint colors to achieve the required color, texture, and consistency.
• Apply paints and coatings using brushes, rollers, spray equipment, and other painting tools.
• Install wallpaper and decorative wall coverings according to specifications.
• Erect and safely use scaffolding, ladders, and access equipment to reach elevated work areas.
• Protect furniture, fixtures, and surrounding areas from paint and construction materials.
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards and customer satisfaction.
• Maintain painting tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
• Follow workplace health and safety regulations and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Coordinate with supervisors and other trades personnel to complete projects efficiently and on schedule.
