Chief Engineer

Qualifications:

• At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with 5 years of experience in a similar position and minimum 2 years in the hotel industry.
• Fluent in English speaking and writing.
• Ability to work with computer, design and drafting software such as AutoCAD.
• Strong document-oriented, problem solver, people management with leadership skill.
• Well organized, detail oriented and logic methodical on all processes.
• Ability to manage multiple programs and projects.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of all mechanical and electrical equipment in the hotel.
• Ensure that all systems function correctly and efficiently to provide guests with a comfortable and safe environment.
• Manage the administration of the Engineering Department, ensuring smooth and organized operations.
• Handle the personal management of all maintenance staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
• Assign duties and responsibilities to the maintenance staff, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
• Prepare documentation related to the Engineering Department and other documentation and records required for decision making and reporting to the government authorities.
• Maintain accurate records and files pertaining to machinery, equipment, and syst
• Prepare annual expenditure budgets and monitor monthly consumption or materials usage and costs.
• Develop monthly maintenance budgets, ensuring that the department operates within financial constraints while maintaining high standards.
• Maintain and update all civil, mechanical, and electrical drawings (As-built) when changes are made.
• Keep warranty certificates and operational maintenance guides and standard operational procedures up to date.
• Implement health and safety measures for the Engineering team.
• Assist and be part of the team in developing and implementing health and safety measures to the hotel guests.
• Monitor and manage the hotel’s energy and water consumption, implementing energy and water saving plans and initiatives.
• Conduct energy audits to identify areas for improvement and reduce energy waste.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
• Implement sustainability initiatives to minimize the hotel’s environmental impact, such as waste reduction and water conservation programs.
• Provide expertise and support in developing and maintaining fire safety and other safety management plans and systems.
• Liaise with outside contractors, architects, consultants, and project management teams during refurbishments.
• Check on BOQs, supplier item lists, and drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Maintain preventive maintenance sheets and logs for all equipment, ensuring regular upkeep and preventing breakdowns.
• Initiate actions to reduce energy waste and implement energy-saving plans.
• Maintaining up-to-date inventory of all assets under the Engineering
• Department and preventive maintenance logs ensures the longevity and reliability of the hotel’s assets
