Jewellery Designer

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in jewellery design, repair, restoration, handmaking, and bespoke jewellery creation.
• Strong skills in freehand jewellery sketching, prototyping, technical drawing, and CAD-based 3D jewellery modelling.
• Hands-on experience working with precious metals, gemstones, and other jewellery materials.
• Experienced in jewellery remodelling, claw re-tipping, stone replacement, stone setting, and jewellery repairs.
• Strong knowledge of jewellery construction, materials, finishing techniques, and quality standards.
• Excellent attention to detail with a strong sense of proportion, design, precision, and craftsmanship.
• Ability to interpret design concepts, sketches, measurements, and technical specifications accurately.
• Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced jewellery workshop while maintaining quality and accuracy.
• Capable of working independently with minimal supervision and collaborating effectively with other workshop staff.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve jewellery design or production issues.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop custom, bespoke, and production jewellery pieces based on client requirements, concepts, sketches, and specifications.
• Produce accurate freehand sketches, technical drawings, prototypes, and CAD 3D jewellery models for new designs.
• Transform jewellery concepts and designs into practical pieces while considering dimensions, materials, functionality, wearability, and manufacturing requirements.
• Create, handmake, repair, restore, and remodel various types of jewellery according to required specifications and quality standards.
• Work with precious metals and gemstones, ensuring proper handling, fitting, setting, finishing, and detailing.
• Perform jewellery repairs and restoration work, including claw re-tipping, stone replacement, stone setting, resizing, remodelling, and other corrective work.
• Inspect finished jewellery pieces for accuracy, structural integrity, quality, finishing, and overall appearance.
• Modify existing jewellery designs and recommend appropriate solutions for repairs, restorations, upgrades, and customisation.
• Coordinate with workshop personnel and other team members to ensure designs can be manufactured accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised jewellery workshop and properly handle tools, equipment, metals, gemstones, and work-in-progress pieces.
• Meet production schedules and deadlines while maintaining consistent workmanship and attention to detail.
• Identify design, material, or manufacturing issues and provide practical solutions to achieve the desired final result.
• Follow workplace safety procedures, workshop standards, and quality-control requirements.
