Franklin Smith Limited is seeking experienced HVAC / Refrigeration Technicians to join its team in New Zealand. The successful candidates will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and refrigeration systems for commercial and industrial projects while ensuring compliance with technical specifications, industry standards, and workplace safety regulations.

HVAC / Refrigeration Technician

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of overseas experience as an HVAC / Refrigeration Technician or in a similar role.
• Strong technical knowledge and practical trade skills in HVAC and refrigeration systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical plans, blueprints, specifications, and safety procedures.
• Good spoken and written English communication skills.
• Capable of working independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Safety-conscious, reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to producing high-quality workmanship.

Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems and equipment.
• Inspect, test, and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in heating, cooling, and refrigeration units.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and project specifications.
• Install and service compressors, condensers, evaporators, piping, ductwork, controls, and related components.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
• Charge, recover, and handle refrigerants in accordance with environmental and safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate service records, maintenance reports, and job documentation.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and other trades to complete projects efficiently.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
