ELECTRICIAN
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of working experience is required.
- Candidates must possess a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience as an Electrician in construction, maintenance, industrial, engineering, or resources projects.
- Trade Qualification – Electrician or equivalent recognized trade qualification.
- Strong knowledge of industrial and commercial electrical systems, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Experience reading and interpreting electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Working knowledge of AS/NZS 3000:2018 Wiring Rules and Australian electrical standards.
- Experience performing fault-finding, cable installation, cable termination, switchboard work, motor connections, and electrical maintenance.
- Strong understanding of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) procedures, hazard identification, and safe work practices.
- Experience working in shutdown, construction, maintenance, or project environments is highly regarded.
- Ability to prepare work reports and job documentation using Microsoft Word, Excel, and other basic computer applications.
- Must have completed at least a one-year vocational course or equivalent electrical trade training.
- Valid Driver’s License is required.
- Certificate in First Aid is an advantage.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Strong attention to detail, quality workmanship, and commitment to workplace safety.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and project documentation.
- Perform electrical installation, maintenance, repair, and testing activities in accordance with AS/NZS 3000:2018 Wiring Rules and Australian safety standards.
- Conduct fault-finding, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on electrical systems, equipment, and associated components.
- Install, terminate, and test cables, switchboards, motors, control systems, and electrical distribution equipment.
- Carry out preventive maintenance, inspections, servicing, commissioning, and shutdown activities.
- Ensure all electrical work is completed according to project specifications, quality requirements, and site procedures.
- Identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions, defects, and quality issues in accordance with company HSE procedures.
- Participate in toolbox meetings, safety programs, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, job reports, inspection documents, and work instructions.
- Coordinate effectively with supervisors, project managers, client representatives, and other trades on site.
- Follow lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures, isolation requirements, PPE policies, and environmental regulations at all times.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards and contribute positively to site productivity and team performance.
- Support industrial and commercial electrical installations, maintenance shutdowns, switchboard servicing, motor control systems, cable tray installations, and related electrical projects.
