FABRICATOR
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of working experience is required.
- Candidates must possess a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in fabrication, metalworking, or machine operation.
- Mechanical background is preferred.
- Proficiency in the use of welding equipment, plasma cutters, bending machines, and other metalworking tools.
- TRA Skills Assessment (Fabricator) or Australian Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of machinery maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) practices and workplace safety compliance.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must have completed at least a one-year vocational course or one year of college education.
- Strong English communication skills to effectively liaise with the Factory Manager and production team.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
- Valid forklift license is required.
- Experience operating overhead gantry cranes is an advantage.
Responsibilities:
- Fabricate, assemble, and weld structural reinforcing steel and heavy-gauge metal components according to engineering specifications.
- Perform cutting, bending, shaping, and fabrication activities based on technical drawings and production requirements.
- Repair, modify, and maintain fabricated steel products and components as required.
- Operate fabrication machinery including welding equipment, plasma cutters, bending machines, and other production equipment.
- Load, unload, and safely handle raw materials, work-in-progress items, and finished products.
- Conduct quality inspections to ensure products meet ISO 9001, ACRS, and company quality standards.
- Achieve daily production targets and accurately complete production reports and documentation.
- Perform machine setup, tooling adjustments, changeovers, and pre-start safety inspections.
- Operate overhead gantry cranes and forklifts safely and efficiently.
- Assist with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs of production machinery and equipment.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Ensure compliance with OH&S regulations, workplace safety policies, and company procedures at all times.
