Kirimana Consultants Limited is seeking experienced Drain Layers to join its construction team in New Zealand. The successful candidates will install, repair, and maintain underground drainage systems for heavy commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects while ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, environmental regulations, and workplace safety standards.

Drain Layer

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience as a Drain Layer.
• Proven experience working on heavy commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
• Good English communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, drainage plans, and engineering specifications.
• Strong knowledge of underground drainage systems, excavation methods, and pipe installation techniques.
• Skilled in the use of drainage installation tools, measuring instruments, and construction equipment.
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
• Physically fit and willing to work in demanding outdoor construction environments.

Responsibilities:

• Install, repair, and maintain underground drainage systems, including stormwater, sewer, wastewater, and surface water pipelines.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, drainage layouts, blueprints, and engineering specifications.
• Excavate trenches, prepare foundations, and lay drainage pipes according to project plans and required gradients.
• Install manholes, catch pits, inspection chambers, culverts, and associated drainage structures.
• Measure, cut, align, join, and secure drainage pipes using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Conduct pipe alignment, leveling, leak testing, and inspections to ensure proper system performance.
• Backfill, compact, and restore excavated areas after drainage installation.
• Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, machine operators, and other construction trades to ensure efficient project execution.
• Identify and report drainage defects, site hazards, or material shortages to supervisors.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and drainage installation equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while complying with workplace health and safety procedures.
• Perform other drainage installation and civil construction duties assigned by management.
