Carpenter Automotive & Transport Limited / Boroko Motors is seeking a skilled and experienced Automotive Technician to join its service team in Papua New Guinea. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of vehicles to ensure they operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company quality standards.

AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience in the automotive industry.
• Previous experience as an Automotive Technician, Mechanic, or similar role is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of automotive mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
• Proficient in using automotive diagnostic equipment and workshop tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve vehicle issues efficiently.
• Good understanding of preventive maintenance and manufacturer repair procedures.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced workshop environment.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs on gasoline and diesel vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Inspect vehicle systems and identify defects or worn components requiring repair or replacement.
• Repair or replace engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, steering, and electrical components.
• Conduct preventive maintenance to improve vehicle reliability and performance.
• Perform road tests and functional checks to verify repairs and ensure vehicle safety.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer service information.
• Maintain accurate service records, repair orders, and inspection reports.
• Ensure tools, equipment, and the work area are maintained in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
• Comply with company policies, manufacturer procedures, and workplace health and safety standards.
