This Diesel Mechanic job in Papua New Guinea is suitable for experienced mechanics with extensive experience maintaining and repairing heavy mobile equipment, earthmoving machinery, construction equipment, trucks, and light vehicles.
Candidates with experience working on Komatsu, Kubota, Isuzu, or similar equipment will have an advantage.
Diesel Mechanic
Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years’ experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
- Strong experience maintaining and repairing heavy mobile equipment.
- Experience working with earthmoving equipment, construction plant, trucks, and light vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines and mechanical systems.
- Proven ability to diagnose mechanical faults and perform effective repairs.
- Experience with Komatsu, Kubota, Isuzu, or similar equipment is highly regarded.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and equipment reliability.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance, servicing, and repairs on diesel-powered equipment and vehicles.
- Diagnose mechanical and engine-related faults and determine appropriate repairs.
- Maintain and repair heavy mobile equipment used in construction and mining operations.
- Work on earthmoving equipment, construction plant, trucks, and light vehicles.
- Inspect engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, braking systems, and other mechanical components.
- Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and carry out necessary repairs.
- Replace worn or damaged components and conduct equipment adjustments.
- Perform scheduled servicing to minimize equipment downtime.
- Test equipment after repairs to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, servicing, and maintenance activities.
- Follow manufacturer specifications, workshop procedures, and workplace safety requirements.
- Work closely with other mechanics, technicians, operators, and site personnel.
