Workshop Foreman

Qualifications:

  • Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Trade qualification in Heavy Equipment Mechanics, Diesel Mechanics, or Automotive Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in plant maintenance, heavy equipment repair, or construction machinery servicing.
  • Experience with civil construction equipment such as excavators, graders, loaders, dump trucks, and crushers.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate workshop staff effectively.
  • Knowledge of heavy plant maintenance procedures and workshop safety standards.
  • Good organizational and record-keeping skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Workshop & Maintenance Management:
    • Supervise daily workshop activities, including servicing, repairs, and maintenance of plant, machinery, and vehicles.
    • Allocate work tasks to mechanics and workshop staff according to operational priorities.
    • Develop and ensure adherence to preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment.
    • Diagnose mechanical faults and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime.
    • Ensure all machinery and vehicles are maintained according to manufacturer specifications.
    • Conduct regular inspections of equipment to identify maintenance needs.
  • Staff Supervision & Technical Guidance:
    • Provide technical guidance and supervision to mechanics, apprentices, and workshop personnel.
    • Ensure workshop staff follow safety procedures and company operational standards.
    • Monitor staff performance and coordinate training as needed.
  • Inventory & Record Management:
    • Manage spare parts, tools, and workshop consumables efficiently.
    • Maintain accurate workshop records including service logs, maintenance records, and repair reports.
    • Coordinate with management regarding equipment availability and deployment.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Maintain a safe workshop environment in compliance with HSEQ procedures.
    • Ensure proper storage and handling of tools, equipment, and workshop materials.
    • Implement corrective actions to reduce recurring equipment issues.
