SENIOR TECHNICIAN (FABRICATION)
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of working experience is required.
- Must have a background in a ceramic company or ceramic manufacturing environment.
- Candidates must be a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in Others or similar fields.
- Proven experience in fabrication, structural modification, and equipment installation.
- Ability to prepare and modify silos, chutes, structural supports, and other metal components.
- Ability to read and understand structural and fabrication drawings.
- Practical knowledge and experience in arc welding, gas cutting, and grinding.
- Ability to accurately measure, mark, cut, fit, align, weld, and assemble metal components.
- Knowledge of machine modification and fabrication according to production requirements.
- Good understanding of welding, cutting, grinding, and fabrication tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for fabrication and hot-work activities.
- Strong awareness of workplace safety, hot-work procedures, fire prevention, and safe handling of gas cylinders.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to troubleshoot fabrication and installation problems and perform appropriate corrective work.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with production, maintenance, and engineering teams.
- Physically fit and capable of performing fabrication and installation work in an industrial environment.
- Responsible, disciplined, safety-conscious, and willing to follow company procedures and instructions.
Responsibilities:
- Perform fabrication and installation work for structural modifications within the ceramic manufacturing facility.
- Prepare and fabricate silos, chutes, platforms, supports, frames, and other structural components as required.
- Read and interpret structural drawings, fabrication drawings, dimensions, and installation instructions.
- Carry out structural installation and modification activities according to approved drawings and specifications.
- Perform arc welding on structural steel, machine components, supports, and other fabricated materials.
- Perform gas cutting of metal plates, sections, pipes, and structural components as required.
- Use grinding machines and other appropriate tools to prepare, smooth, clean, and finish fabricated components.
- Measure, mark, cut, fit, align, and assemble metal components according to drawings and required dimensions.
- Perform machine modifications according to production requirements and approved technical instructions.
- Modify, fabricate, or adjust machine components to support production needs and improve equipment functionality.
- Inspect fabricated and modified structures and machine components to ensure proper fit, alignment, strength, and workmanship.
- Identify fabrication or installation issues and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Coordinate with production, maintenance, engineering, and other technical personnel regarding fabrication and modification requirements.
- Assist in planning and organizing fabrication activities according to production schedules and operational priorities.
- Select and use appropriate welding machines, cutting equipment, grinders, hand tools, measuring instruments, and other fabrication equipment.
- Conduct basic checks and routine maintenance of welding, cutting, grinding, and fabrication tools and equipment.
- Report damaged, defective, or unsafe equipment to the appropriate supervisor.
- Follow approved welding, cutting, fabrication, installation, and machine-modification procedures.
- Ensure proper use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during welding, cutting, grinding, and other fabrication activities.
- Follow hot-work safety procedures and maintain appropriate fire-prevention measures during welding and gas-cutting operations.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and cleanliness in fabrication and work areas.
- Handle welding consumables, gas cylinders, metal materials, and fabrication equipment safely.
- Assist in identifying structural or equipment conditions requiring repair, reinforcement, modification, or replacement.
- Ensure completed fabrication and modification work meets required quality, safety, and production standards.
- Perform other fabrication, welding, structural modification, installation, and maintenance-related duties assigned by management.
