Narseys Plastic Industries Pte Ltd is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Principal Software Architect and Engineer to lead the design, development, and operation of enterprise web and SaaS platforms in the Fiji Islands. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership across software architecture, full-stack development, cloud deployment, security, testing, release management, and production operations. The role requires strong expertise in modern web technologies, scalable multi-tenant systems, and secure enterprise software development.

PRINCIPAL SOFTWARE ARCHITECT AND ENGINEER

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in a Lead, Staff, Principal, or Software Architect role.
• Proven experience designing, developing, deploying, and operating production enterprise web or SaaS platforms through multiple releases.
• Strong full-stack development skills, including TypeScript/JavaScript, React/Next.js or equivalent, Node.js, REST APIs, and relational SQL.
• Demonstrated experience with SaaS security, multi-tenant architecture, authentication, authorization, RBAC, secrets management, and audit logging.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, code review, release governance, cloud deployment, monitoring, incident response, and disaster recovery.
• Experience with ERP, accounting, freight, logistics, customs, transport, warehousing, fleet, payroll, or similar enterprise systems is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL/Prisma, cloud platforms, event-driven architecture, queues, webhooks, secure development, and OWASP practices is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, database design, API development, and distributed systems.
• Ability to design secure and scalable applications for enterprise and multi-tenant environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills when working with technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Ability to manage complex technical projects and make sound architectural decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the architecture, design, development, and operation of production-grade enterprise web and SaaS platforms.
• Design scalable, maintainable, secure, and reliable software architectures for business-critical applications.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to software engineers and development teams.
• Develop and maintain full-stack applications using technologies such as TypeScript/JavaScript, React/Next.js, Node.js, REST APIs, and relational SQL.
• Design and implement secure APIs, backend services, databases, integrations, and application components.
• Develop and maintain multi-tenant SaaS architectures with appropriate data isolation and access controls.
• Design and implement authentication, authorization, role-based access control (RBAC), secrets management, and audit logging.
• Establish and maintain secure software development practices based on recognized security standards and OWASP principles.
• Design systems that support scalability, availability, performance, maintainability, and disaster recovery.
• Lead technical decisions involving cloud platforms, databases, event-driven architecture, queues, webhooks, and enterprise integrations.
• Design and implement automated testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
• Conduct and promote code reviews, engineering standards, coding best practices, and release governance.
• Monitor production systems and applications to identify performance, reliability, availability, and security issues.
• Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, system recovery, and continuous improvement activities.
• Develop monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational processes for production systems.
• Plan and implement backup, recovery, business continuity, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate operational requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Support enterprise systems involving ERP, accounting, freight, logistics, customs, transportation, warehousing, fleet, payroll, or similar business functions.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, frameworks, tools, and architectural approaches that may improve system performance and maintainability.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, development standards, and system specifications.
• Mentor software engineers and promote technical knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
• Ensure software solutions comply with organizational security, quality, development, and operational standards.
• Perform other senior software engineering and architectural duties assigned by management.
