Savvana Constructions Limited is seeking an experienced Plumbing Engineer to lead the design, installation, testing, commissioning, and technical management of plumbing and hydraulic systems for modular housing production, precast concrete manufacturing facilities, and construction projects in Papua New Guinea. The successful candidate will ensure all water supply, sewerage, drainage, stormwater, fire protection, and hydraulic systems comply with applicable engineering standards, project specifications, and HSEQ requirements while supporting project delivery and operational excellence.
Plumbing Engineer
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 years relevant working experience in plumbing or hydraulic engineering.
- Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Plumbing Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineering Registration is preferred.
- Hydraulic Design Certification is desirable.
- Project Management training is an advantage.
- HSEQ or Integrated Management System (IMS) training is desirable.
- Proven experience in modular construction, commercial developments, industrial facilities, or large building projects.
- Strong experience in the design and management of water supply, sewerage, wastewater, stormwater, drainage, and fire protection systems.
- Experience in testing and commissioning hydraulic services.
- Experience managing plumbing contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Experience working within ISO-certified organizations is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing and hydraulic engineering, hydraulic calculations, quality assurance, risk management, contractor management, and project coordination.
- Excellent technical reporting, communication, presentation, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Working knowledge of IMS and ISO standards is an advantage.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and approve plumbing and hydraulic system designs, calculations, and engineering documentation.
- Perform hydraulic calculations, system sizing, and ensure compliance with applicable plumbing codes, engineering standards, and project specifications.
- Coordinate plumbing designs with structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
- Supervise plumbing installations for modular housing units, including bathrooms, kitchens, utility services, and hydraulic systems.
- Design and oversee potable water distribution, sewerage, wastewater, drainage, and stormwater management systems.
- Coordinate hydraulic aspects of fire protection systems, including fire water reticulation, storage, and commissioning activities.
- Develop and supervise testing, pressure testing, flow testing, commissioning, and operational verification of plumbing and hydraulic systems.
- Review test results, approve commissioning documentation, and ensure defects are rectified prior to project handover.
- Supervise plumbing contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure compliance with project specifications, workmanship standards, and company requirements.
- Conduct quality inspections, monitor Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and implement corrective actions for non-conformances.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) policies through hazard identification, risk assessments, and safe work practices.
- Coordinate plumbing engineering activities with project schedules, consultants, clients, authorities, and project teams.
- Support procurement of plumbing materials and equipment and provide technical guidance throughout project execution.
- Prepare technical reports, engineering recommendations, as-built drawings, operating manuals, and project handover documentation.
- Monitor project performance, plumbing system reliability, and engineering deliverables to ensure timely completion and successful project outcomes.
