Yamamoto Denki Co Ltd is seeking qualified and experienced Machinists under the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) program to work in Japan. The successful candidates will be responsible for setting up and operating machining equipment, adjusting machine parameters and tooling, producing precision-machined components according to blueprints and specifications, and inspecting finished workpieces using precision measuring instruments. Candidates must demonstrate strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to workplace safety and quality.

MACHINIST (SSW)

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience is required.
• Must be at least a high school graduate.
• Experience in precision machining, manufacturing, or related machine operation.
• Technical training through a vocational program, technical college certification, or apprenticeship in precision machining or manufacturing technology is highly preferred.
• Ability to set up and adjust machining machines and production equipment.
• Knowledge of machine tooling, fixtures, cutting tools, coordinates, and basic machining processes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and programming instructions.
• Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Strong understanding of dimensional accuracy and quality-control requirements.
• Ability to identify and correct minor machining errors and equipment problems.
• Basic knowledge of machine maintenance, cleaning, tooling changes, and troubleshooting.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality workpieces.
• Physically fit and capable of performing hands-on machining and workshop duties.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Reliable, disciplined, and able to work effectively as part of a manufacturing team.
• Willing to follow Japanese workplace procedures, technical instructions, and quality standards.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety, including maintaining a clean and hazard-free workspace and consistently wearing required PPE.
• Willing to work in Japan under the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) program.

Responsibilities:

• Set up and prepare machining machines and equipment for production.
• Adjust machine settings and operating parameters according to production requirements.
• Change and install appropriate tooling attachments, cutting tools, and fixtures.
• Input machine coordinates and other required parameters based on blueprints or programming instructions.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, dimensions, tolerances, and machining specifications.
• Operate machining equipment to produce precision components according to required specifications.
• Monitor machining operations and make appropriate adjustments to maintain accuracy and productivity.
• Perform machining operations while maintaining required dimensions, surface finishes, and tolerances.
• Inspect finished workpieces using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Compare measurements against drawings, specifications, and required design tolerances.
• Identify dimensional deviations, surface defects, tooling problems, or other quality issues and make appropriate adjustments.
• Maintain accurate records of measurements, inspections, production activities, and machine-related issues when required.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and basic equipment checks.
• Clean machines, tools, fixtures, and surrounding work areas regularly.
• Troubleshoot minor technical errors and mechanical malfunctions affecting machining operations.
• Report major equipment problems, recurring defects, or technical issues to supervisors or maintenance personnel.
• Replace or adjust tools and machine components as instructed.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and maintenance of machining tools and measuring instruments.
• Follow production schedules, work instructions, technical procedures, and quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workspace.
• Strictly follow workshop safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Handle metal materials, workpieces, cutting tools, lubricants, and machining equipment safely.
• Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, quality-control personnel, and other machinists to maintain smooth production.
• Assist with continuous improvement activities related to machining quality, productivity, and workplace safety.
• Perform other machining, production, maintenance, and workshop duties assigned by management.
