Minerva Navis S.R.L. is seeking qualified and experienced Grinders to join its team in Romania. The successful candidates will be responsible for grinding, smoothing, cleaning, and preparing metal and steel surfaces for welding, painting, assembly, and finishing. Candidates should be skilled in operating angle grinders and other power tools and preferably have experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, metal fabrication, or related industrial work.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience is required.
• Must be at least a high school graduate.
• 2–3 years of relevant experience as a Grinder or in a related position.
• Skilled in operating angle grinders and other power tools.
• Experience in metal grinding, surface preparation, welding cleanup, or metal fabrication.
• Ability to remove welds, slag, rust, burrs, and other imperfections from metal surfaces.
• Knowledge of proper grinding, smoothing, deburring, and surface finishing techniques.
• Experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, steel fabrication, or a similar industrial environment is an advantage.
• Ability to safely handle metal components, grinding equipment, and power tools.
• Good understanding of workplace safety procedures and proper use of PPE.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce clean and properly finished metal surfaces.
• Physically fit and capable of standing, bending, lifting, and performing repetitive grinding tasks.
• Reliable, hardworking, disciplined, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

• Grind and smooth metal and steel surfaces using appropriate grinding tools and equipment.
• Remove excess welds, welding slag, rust, burrs, sharp edges, and other surface imperfections.
• Prepare metal surfaces for welding, painting, coating, assembly, or finishing.
• Operate angle grinders, bench grinders, and other power tools safely and efficiently.
• Select and install the appropriate grinding discs, wheels, and accessories for each task.
• Perform grinding and finishing work according to technical drawings, specifications, and supervisor instructions.
• Smooth welded joints and remove excess material to achieve the required surface finish.
• Clean and prepare metal components before welding or other fabrication processes.
• Inspect surfaces after grinding to ensure they are properly cleaned, smooth, and free from visible defects.
• Perform deburring and edge finishing on fabricated metal components.
• Use hand tools and power tools for cutting, grinding, polishing, and surface preparation as required.
• Assist welders and metal fabricators by preparing components and correcting surface imperfections.
• Handle and position metal components safely during grinding and finishing operations.
• Maintain proper control of grinding tools to prevent excessive material removal or damage to components.
• Replace worn grinding discs and accessories and perform basic checks of power tools before use.
• Keep the grinding area, tools, and equipment clean and properly organized.
• Follow workplace safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety goggles, gloves, hearing protection, and protective clothing.
• Follow proper procedures when working around sparks, dust, welding areas, and other industrial hazards.
• Report damaged tools, unsafe conditions, equipment problems, or defective materials to the supervisor.
• Complete assigned grinding and surface preparation tasks efficiently and according to production schedules.
